New Families to St. Vincent
We extend a warm welcome to our new families that have joined our school community! You will find a welcome letter in your family packages coming home this week. We encourage you to reach out to our welcoming committee to address any questions you have about our school. Our website also provides lots of valuable information.
Preparations for a Safe Start
Our staff is working very hard to limit the risks of transmission of COVID-19. We continue to have extensive training on infection control measures such as hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, social distancing, and the use of medical and non-medical face masks.
We are developing plans to ensure that all of our students will have a smooth and positive transition to their new classrooms. We miss all of our students and are very much looking forward to being together again!
On Wednesday, August 25th, at 7:00 pm, Dr. Meghani, Halton’s Chief Medical Officer for the Halton Region conducted a live webinar for all parents on health and safety in school for the 2021-2022 school year. For more information, watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtQx8vwyGVA
We are happy to say that we will be permitted to once again host extra-curricular activities and some food programs in the school this year. We will start off slowly and hope to begin these programs in October.
Protocols will look quite similar to last year. Most of the time, your child will remain in a single cohort. All students in Grades JK-8 will be required to wear masks in school except when they are eating. Students can request mask breaks if required, and they will not need to wear masks when they are having class outside or during recess breaks. For more information about our health and safety protocols, please see our Return to School Plan:

Supervision begins at 8:25 AM. For the safety of your child(ren) we request that your child NOT be on school property until a supervisor is on duty. Students will enter the building beginning at 8:25 AM, and go directly to their classroom. Encourage your child(ren) to use appropriate crosswalks and walkways. Establish routines at home that will assist your child to arrive on time. Please be aware that the volume of traffic in the parking lot increases significantly just prior to the entry bell. Children arriving late for school must first report to the office for a late slip.
Kiss & Ride
Your assistance and co-operation with morning drop-off and evening pick-up are essential to ensuring the safety of all our students. The drop-off lane is at the side of the school (please do not drop off students in the front as this is our bussing lane). The drop-off lane is to be used for a quick drop-off and pick-up. Parents can not exit their car in these lanes and go to the gate to drop off or greet a child. Due to maintaining safety protocols during COVID-19, parents must drop off their child at the gate and not exit their car nor stay in the playground area. This is to ensure the health and safety of our staff and students. Thank you for your cooperation with our parking lot guidelines.
Family Information Packages
Family Consent forms are being done online this year. More information with the link to this form will be sent over the first several weeks of school. We will send home the Physical Activity Form, New Families welcome Letter, and additional information from our Board. These forms should be found in a labeled envelope in your child’s backpack.
Please complete and return the Physical Education form to your child’s teacher so they can begin their gym program as soon as possible.
If your child has a serious medical condition, an updated medical package form was emailed to parents in June. If your child is new to our school or has a NEW medical condition, please contact Mrs. V at the office to obtain the new forms. The health care forms MUST be completed and returned to the school during the week of August 30, 2021, prior to the first day of school.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation regarding the safe provision of medication and the information pertaining to your child. Their safety, and the safety of all other students, is our first priority.
We are currently finalizing elementary class placements and making adjustments based on new registrations that have come in over the summer. Final placements will be available on Friday, September 3rd after 3:00 p.m.
Parents and guardians will be able to access the class placement for each child, using your child’s Office 365 email and password. You will not require your child’s OEN number.
As a follow-up, in the case of technical issues, we will be sending out an email to families after 4:00 PM to indicate their children’s class placements. If you are unable to get into Office 365 for any reason, please wait for this follow-up email.
As per Director Daly’s email, due to the timing and complexity of the process this year, we will not be able to accommodate any requests for changes to class placements.
Transportation information for bus students is available at www.haltonbus.ca. To access this information, you will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN). When you log in, you will also see the assigned seat that your child will have for riding the bus. Please note that Courtesy Seats are on hold for now and if that changes, it will be communicated to families.
If your child is eligible for the bus, but will not be riding, please use the opt-out form to let us know. You can opt back in at any time!

Daily Confirmation of Covid-19 Screening
The Ministry of Education has directed all schools to implement daily confirmation of COVID self-screening for all elementary students attending school in person. This will be in place for the first two weeks of the school year, unless otherwise directed by the Ministry of Education.
- Parents and guardians are asked to complete the COVID-19 School Screening Tool for each child every day before leaving home for school.
- Confirmation of the daily screening must be provided to the classroom teacher in one of the following formats:
- Email results to classroom teacher;
- Show “pass” confirmation on a personal device;
- Show printed copy of the screening tool indicating the current date and a “pass”; OR
- Complete Confirmation of Daily COVID-19 Student Screening Log, which your child(ren) bring back and forth to school each day. (If a teahcer chooses this option, this will be given to your child after the first day of school)
Safe Arrival Program
The Safe Arrival program has been established to ensure that your child arrives safely at school. We appreciate your cooperation in calling the school to let us know that your child(ren) will not be attending at 905-849-0777. Parents are encouraged to use the School Messanger app to record absences.
Welcome New Staff!
We welcome Ms. Runco who will be our PTM and Arts teacher and Ms. Sturm who is joining us as an ECE in the kindergarten classroom.
If your children ride bicycles to school, we remind you to ensure that your children’s bicycles are roadworthy, that your children are familiar with the rules of the road, and that their bicycles conform to local municipal by-laws with respect to licensing, operation and equipment. All students need to wear helmets when riding a bicycle. They must ride them to the edge of school property and then walk and place them in the bike racks.
r that students are expected to be in full uniform for the first day of school. More information can be found here: https://www.hcdsb.org/schools/school-uniforms/
