Curriculum Presentations – September 29th
Parents are invited to visit their child’s classroom virtually for information on the curriculum being taught in their child’s class. We will begin at 6:40 PM with a welcome and prayer from Ms. Uniacke on Microsoft TEAMs and then afterward you can begin accessing your child’s curriculum information through either Microsoft TEAMs or D2L. The link to the curriculum night welcome and prayer can be found here. Your video cameras and microphones will be disabled for this event.
More information on how to access the virtual classroom presentations will be communicated to you by the classroom teacher prior to Sept. 29th. We look forward to engaging with our parent community during this event!
Rowan’s Law Day – September 29
On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, our school will be recognizing Rowan’s Law Day to raise awareness about concussion safety, and to share Rowan Stringer’s story.
In May 2013, 17-year-old Rowan died as the result of head injuries sustained in a game of rugby. In March 2018, the Ontario government passed Rowan’s Law, designed to protect athletes and to educate about the dangers of head injuries.
The health and safety of our students is our top priority, and on September 29th, we hope to increase awareness about the dangers of concussions. Together, we can help our students prevent, recognize and respond to concussions.
Orange Shirt Day: Every Child Matters – Sept. 30th
September 30th is recognized as Orange Shirt Day. This day acknowledges the residential school system and recognizes the harm they did to Indigenous children’s sense of self-esteem and wellbeing. We are encouraging our staff and students to wear orange shirts (uniform bottoms must be worn) to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
Class Photos Postponed
Edge is committed to maintaining safety first and will continue to closely monitor and comply with all board and provincial orders related to COVID-19. Currently, all photo days will be postponed until further notice. We will update our community when they are able to safely come and take pictures for the school year.
Fire & Lockdown Drill – Sept 27th
We will be having our first fire and lockdown drill on Monday, September 27th. In keeping with the public health protocols, the Fire Marshall has sent school boards the protocol for conducting drills during COVID-19. Each class/cohort will perform the drill separately to ensure physical distancing is maintained according to public health guidelines. A one-time alarm will ring and then each class will be prompted to conduct the drill through the PA system. If there is an actual fire alarm outside of our drills, all students would evacuate according to our fire plan.
First Holy Communion – Oct 3rd
First Holy Communion for our current Grade 3s will take place on Sunday, October 3rd at 1:30 PM at St. Andrew’s Parish (this is the rescheduled date from last Spring). We congratulate all our Grade 3 students on receiving this sacrament and wish them many blessings as they continue in their journey of faith.
School Council Meeting – Oct. 4th
We will have our first Council Meeting on Monday, October 4th virtually through Microsoft TEAMs at 7 PM.
