COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool

Parents and guardians are asked to continue completing the COVID-19 School Screening Toolfor each child every day before leaving home for school. It is extremely important that parents do this self-screening test with their children BEFORE they come to school each day. Staff also do this assessment daily before coming to work. Thank you to everyone for sending in your confirmation during the first two weeks of school as per the Ministry directive. Submission of your child’s self screening confirmation to your child’s teacher is no longer required. Should the Ministry implement this requirement once again during the school year, you will be notified. Thank you for your co-operation in keeping everybody safe!

Family Paint Night – September 22nd

HCDSB families, students, and staff are invited to participate in a virtual family paint night in recognition of Orange Shirt Day on Wednesday, September 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

The online session will be hosted by Indigenous Artist, Moses Lunham, who will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create the painting at home. No prior artistic experience is necessary to get involved. However, those interested in participating can prepare for the art session by collecting the following art supplies.

A link to the live event will be available on the scheduled time and day of the presentation on the Grandmother’s Voice YouTube Channel.

For more information, visit the HCDSB website.

Curriculum Presentations – September 29th

Save the Date! Parents will be invited to visit their child’s classroom virtually for information on the curriculum being taught in their child’s class. We will begin at 6:45 PM with a welcome and prayer from Ms. Uniacke on Microsoft TEAMs and then afterward you can begin accessing your child’s curriculum information through either Microsoft TEAMs or D2L.

A Microsoft TEAMs link to the curriculum night welcome and prayer will be emailed to parents prior to Sept 29th. We ask that your video cameras and microphones are turned off before joining the event. More information on how to access the virtual classroom presentations will be communicated to you by the classroom teacher prior to Sept. 29th. We look forward to engaging with our parent community during this event!

Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct was reviewed with students regarding the expectations and routines that make St. Vincent School a wonderful place to grow and learn at. Our code of conduct is in the front section of the student agenda and also posted on our website here.  Please review and discuss it together with your child.

Bicycle Safety

It is so wonderful to see so many of our students riding their bikes to school!

If your children ride bicycles to school, we remind you to ensure that your children’s bicycles are roadworthy, that your children are familiar with the rules of the road, and that their bicycles conform to local municipal by-laws with respect to licensing, operation and equipment. All students need to wear helmets when riding a bicycle. They must ride them to the edge of the school property and then walk their bike to the bike rack.

Arriving on Time

It is very important that students arrive on time for school in the morning (the final bell rings at 8:40 AM) so we can avoid congestion at the office giving out late slips. We appreciate your support in keeping everyone safe!

Lunches

Thank you to parents for ensuring you are sending a lunch with your child as we cannot have drop-offs of lunches. We would appreciate your co-operation in ensuring your child has their own utensils for their lunch. We cannot provide nor share these items for safety reasons.

Family Consent Forms

As you know, at the beginning of each school year, parents and guardians are asked to complete a hardcopy information/consent form for each child enrolled in our school. Beginning this year, we will be collecting this information electronically, and are asking parents/guardians to complete the form online. Please note, the Physical Education form (plus important Board information) was sent home in a brown envelope with youngest and only students. Please return the Physical Education form as soon as possible to the classroom teacher.

Parents are asked to complete the online form, which may be accessed HERE. The form should take you no longer than 10 minutes to complete.

Important Notes Before Completing the Form:

  • If you have more than one child enrolled in an HCDSB school, please complete a separate form for each child.
  • Only one parent/guardian is required to complete a form for each child.
  • You will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to submit this form. The OEN can be found on a recent report card.
  • Please ensure you are submitting your child’s preferred name or the name you provided at registration.
  • The form can be completed using a computer, smart phone, or tablet.

Medical Perils

Please ensure you have returned the necessary forms for any medical perils (anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes, etc.) to the office along with any medication needed so we can update our files.

Please be aware that St. Vincent School strives to be a nut aware environment. We have students with life-threatening allergies to nuts and other allergens. No peanut butter or other nut products are allowed. Please check labels before sending items in school lunches and for snacks. Even a trace of nut oil from one child’s fingers to a desk surface can cause a deadly reaction. Please note that Wow Butter (soy product) is not allowed as well since we cannot distinguish between it and peanut butter.

Interactive School Calendar

Our website features an interactive school calendar, which allows parents to view the calendar right within our school site, but also offers the ability to subscribe to the calendar and add it to your Apple, Google, and/or Outlook calendars. To subscribe to this feature, click on the CALENDAR tab, and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see a button that says ‘SUBSCRIBE’ and when you click on this button, you will be prompted to select a calendar option.  View the How-To Guide
