OECTA Job Action – All HCDSB Schools Will Be CLOSED to Students on Thursday, March 5, 2020
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) announced that they will hold a one-day, province-wide full withdrawal of services (walkout) on Thursday, March 5, 2020.
As OECTA represents all of our HCDSB elementary and secondary school teachers, a full withdrawal of services would mean that no instruction would take place in any of our classrooms. This poses significant student supervision challenges that would threaten the safety of our elementary and secondary students.
In light of these safety concerns, all HCDSB schools will be CLOSED to students on Thursday, March 5, 2020.
Drop Off & Pick Up Reminders
We kindly ask for your assistance with the following:
- Students who exit the school at the end of the day and walk to the front of the school, are to walk along the sidewalk at the west side of the building (right side when facing the building). They should not be crossing by the kiss and ride area and where the buses pull out of the driveway. Please remind your child(ren) to not walk between the buses.
- Parents should be picking up their child(ren) on the east side of the school building through the kiss and ride. Please use this lane as a quick drop off/pick up so we can keep the traffic flowing. If you need to stop, please use a parking space.
- Please do not allow your child(ren) to play on any of the snow hills in the parking lots during drop off or pick up. This is quite dangerous as they can easily fall or slide into moving traffic.
- Supervision in the morning begins at 8:25 AM. Please do not drop off students before that time so we can ensure they are supervised by our staff.
We thank you for your on-going co-operation in reinforcing this with your child(ren) so we can ensure everyone’s safety.
Pancake Tuesday Thank You
Thank you to all the parents who came out to volunteer their time in preparing the pancakes for our students on Shrove Tuesday. We would also like to thank Mrs. Glinski for organizing this day, and her students for delivering the pancakes. A huge thank you as well to Sunset Grill (on Cornwall Rd) for donating the pancake mix and syrup. We are truly grateful for everyone’s support!
First Reconciliation Meeting & First Communion Enrollment
There will be a meeting for parents of students receiving First Reconciliation on Saturday, Feb 29th at 10:30 AM at St. Andrew Parish. For students who are receiving First Communion, there will be an Enrollment ceremony at the 5 PM mass on Saturday, Feb 29th and all masses on Sunday, March 1st.
Liturgy – March 2nd
Our Grade 4s will be leading a liturgy on Monday, March 2nd at 11:15 AM. The liturgy will be a reflection on Black History Month and the celebration of all the events and people we learned about throughout the month.
Our annual Book Bonanza will take place in June. This is a wonderful event where we sell used books to help support our library. If you are doing any Spring cleaning, we are accepting used book donations in preparation for this event. Please drop off any donations at the office or library. Thank you for your on-going support!
March Break – March 16-20
