It’s that time of year when we snuggle up and read, read, read! Cover to Cover is our annual reading program, that runs for 4 weeks, where we ask each student to record the time they spend reading after school. Starting on Thursday, January 30th, your children will be bringing home a slip for you to initial. Each time your child has met the reading time requirements, as indicated on the slip, you simply initial that line. All students will receive 2 slips on Thursday, however, more slips will be available in their classroom, at the office, or in the library. Please note, for younger students you may also include time that they have been read to.
The students must return their filled in slips each week in order for them to be eligible for the weekly draws. Each slip returned will also give that student’s class a star on the Cover to Cover bulletin board. We will be tracking each class and a class party will be awarded to the top class, in each division, at the end of the four weeks. Students ARE NOT to hold onto their slips until the final week. Each week the slips are a different colour and previous week slips will not be eligible for draws or class stars, unless there are extenuating circumstances (sickness, vacation).
We are blessed to have so many avid readers at St. Vincent, so this friendly reading competition is just what we need for these cold winter weeks when we can snuggle up and read, read, read!
