“Peace is a gift of God but requires our efforts. Let us be people of peace in prayer & deed.”

Remembrance Day Liturgy this week

On Thursday November 11, 2021 all St. Timothy classes will participate in a Liturgy led by Mme Hawken, Mme McLeod, Mrs. Di Iulio, and Mrs. Volak featuring students from the various classes they teach. A special thank you to our Pastoral Animator, Mrs. Slaven, for her support. All students will be given either a poppy sticker or a pinned poppy. Students involved in Guides and/or Scouts/Cadets are welcome to wear their uniforms if they wish to do so.

The #NoHateInHalton Campaign

The #NoHateInHalton will launch on Monday, November 8th in schools across the Halton Region. This is a community campaign that was developed by our Halton Regional Police Services in collaboration with the four school districts in Halton.

As a school, we will be promoting this campaign through various activities in the classroom, and on social media. We are fortunate to live in such a vibrant and diverse community and are committed to nurturing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school where all students, families and staff know they are valued, respected, accepted, and safe. Let’s work together to ensure that there is #NoHateInHalton!

Pizza Days

We are excited to share that our First Pizza Day was a success, due to the wonderful organization of our Parent Volunteers. A special thank you to Mrs. Davoren, our school secretary, for all her “behind the scenes” work!

Clearly, there is great support in the community for lunch programs, and since this first effort was so successful, we will be introducing the option to order Subway sandwiches through the Lunchbox program later this month. We will be targeting Tuesdays as our “sandwich day”. Further details will be shared out shortly: please keep abreast of your e-mails!

Dressing for Winter Weather

The cold weather has arrived! We are outside for all recesses unless the temperature drops below -20 degrees Celsius, so make sure your children have dressed appropriately with mittens, hats, scarves, boots, and snow pants if necessary!

The best way to stay warm is by layering clothing, but when layers are removed, they often get lost! Please make sure that all of your children’s clothing is clearly labeled so that if it is lost, it can be returned to them. A gentle reminder that our Contactless Fundraising Program with Mabel’s Labels is still underway. Through this program, 20% of all purchases will be given back to the St. Timothy’s School Community. These purchases will help to support and fund initiatives for our students. To participate in this great cause, go to campaigns.mabelslabels.com and search for ST. TIMOTHY’S CATHOLIC SCHOOL (BURLINGTON) to make your purchases. We thank you in advance!

Please note that any information regarding bus cancellations or school closures will be posted on the Board Website: www.HCDSB.org.

11th Annual HCCF Evening with Bishop Crosby – Virtual Edition

Wed. Nov. 17, 2021 – Reception at 6:30pm; Main Event at 7:00-8:30pm

The Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation (HCCF) supports HCDSB students in need with basic necessities (i.e. food and clothing) & with school activities that have a fee (i.e. team or club fees).

“With this funding the foundation has gratefully reduced the stress impacting the family and helped to ensure access to basic needs.” – HCDSB Social Worker

HCCF needs our help so they can continue to say “yes” to helping HCDSB students with financial barriers to learning.  They are looking for companies to be a sponsor at the event and for community members to purchase tickets and to donate.

It is NOT another Zoom call. We are using https://www.kumospace.com/ so you can have fun and interact with your friends. Enjoy a meal and your favourite beverage while you catch up with others.

Join the Halton Catholic Community for an entertaining experience where you can connect with your friends and hear Bishop Crosby’s stories, sense of humour and wisdom.

Progress Reports & Parent-teacher interviews

Progress Reports will be sent home electronically by the Board Office on Wednesday, November 24th. Please look for future communication via Board Email with instructions on how to access them.

We will be holding Parent-Teacher Interviews via Microsoft Teams on Thursday, November 25th from 3:50 – 8:00 pm and Friday, November 26th from 8:50 am – 1:30 pm. Once again, we will be using the online booking system to make it more convenient for our families! Please look for an upcoming email with instructions for parents regarding how to make appointments.

Lunch Supervisors needed!

We are currently looking for 1-2 Lunch Supervisors. This is not a volunteer task, but rather a paid position: Lunch Supervisors are employees of the Board. If you are interested and are available between 12:00 and 1:10 regularly, and have a current Vulnerable Sectors Criminal Reference Check, please reach out to Mrs. Toltl to discuss further: toltla@hcdsb.org.

St. Timothy Tips:

End of Daylight Savings Time: Sunday, November 7th, 2021, is the end of Daylight Savings so we ‘fall back’ and gain an hour. Time changes can be difficult for many children. The behaviour analysts of our board have provided some tips to help children adjust to the time change.

We continue to draw on our faith and offer prayers for the safety and well-being of those who are sick, and those who are working on the frontlines to care for them.
