Weekly Update for June 7, 2021

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.– Psalm 139:14

The Premier of Ontario announced this week that all Ontario elementary and secondary schools will remain closed for in-person learning for the rest of the school year. See the Press Release here.

As stated in the news release, the decision to remain in remote learning is to allow the province to focus on accelerating COVID-19 vaccinations to support a safe summer and return to in-person learning in September 2021.

  • Elementary and secondary students will continue to learn remotely until the end of June.
  • Students with special education needs who cannot be accommodated through remote learning will continue to receive in-person support during the extended remote learning period.
  • Child care centres will remain OPEN.
  • All Before and After School Programs will remain CLOSED.

In light of the current Public Health situation in Ontario due to COVID-19, the Halton Catholic District School Board will continue to offer a virtual school setting for Kindergarten to Grade 8, together with those awarded placements in our optional virtual programing for French Immersion (Grade 1 to 8) and Extended French Grade 5 to Grade 8 for 2021-2022 school year.

At this time, the HCDSB is asking that you confirm your decision by completing the online form linked below if you would like your child to attend the HCDSB Virtual Catholic Elementary School.

This online form will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021.

Free Family Paint Night

Our HCDSB Indigenous Education Advisor has organized three free on-line paint nights with Indigenous Artist Moses Lunham.  This is a wonderful way of engaging staff, parents, students and family members to come together in community, to be creative and learn more about Indigenous Art.  All information for the paint nights, pictures and supplies will be posted on the HCDSB webpage. Each session will have a different theme based on the natural cycle of the environment.  All sessions will be on the HCDSB YouTube Channel from 6 pm – 8 pm.

  • Wednesday June 9th, 2021 – Strawberry being the First Fruit of the Season

Moses Lunham will provide step-by-step instructions, provide encouragement and has agreed to leave the live video up for a period of one week between each session.

The Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus – June 11th, 2021

Friday June 11th, 2021 is the Feast of the Scared Heart of Jesus. The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated 19 days after Pentecost. On this day, we are reminded of the devotion God asks from humankind and His desire to spread love into our hearts, homes, cities, nation, and the entire world. This feast day is a wonderful opportunity for families to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus in their home, by renewing their commitment to the covenant of love.

Family Trivia Night

St. Timothy School will be hosting a Disney Trivia Night on Wednesday June 16th, at 6:00 p.m. All St. Timothy families (those who are attending Face-to-Face and Virtual) are welcome to join.  We are blessed to have this opportunity to bring our St. Timothy families together as a community to end the 2021 school year. Additional information regarding this event will be sent out closer to the date. All participants are invited to wear their Disney themed clothing for the night.

School Bus Courtesy Seats

Each year, in accordance with HSTS Procedure HS-1-004 – Courtesy Seats, families with children who are not otherwise eligible for school bus transportation to and from school are allowed to apply for courtesy seats on school buses. At this time, the Halton Student Transportation Services (HSTS) will not be able to accommodate courtesy seats as we move into the 2021-2022 school year. However, as information becomes available from public health, this decision may be reconsidered, and we will communicate any changes.

As a result, the courtesy seat application process is on HOLD for the 2021-2022 school year.
