School Update – Week of November 22nd

~The Feast of Christ the King~

“That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those
that are in Heaven,
on earth and under the earth:
And that every tongue should confess that
the Lord Jesus Christ
is in the glory of God the Father.”

Philippians 2:10-11

Co Vid 19 Safety Measures

At St. Teresa of Calcutta School, we review with our students each day the importance of the following:

  • Hand hygiene by using soap and water for 20 seconds, regularly during the day, before/after eating, after washroom use, and before/after outdoor play.
  • Respiratory etiquette by wearing our masks so that they fully cover our nose, mouth and are tight to our chin.
  • Maintaining physical distancing by respecting the personal space of others

Kindly ensure that you remind your child of the importance of complying with the safety measures that are in place when they are at school.

For the safety and well-being of all students and staff, parents and guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment.

The Government of Ontario daily self-screening tool can be accessed here:

Kinder (East) Parking Lot Safety

Please note that we only have one area for Kiss n Ride (West) parking lot. We do not have enough staff to manage Kiss n Ride on both sides of our school, nor does our small school population support this need. Please note that the Kinder/West parking lot driveway is for our special needs/wheelchair transportation buses. Parking is never allowed in the driveway. Feel free to park in the available spaces and walk your child to the gate. This past week, it has been noted that some cars pull alongside parked buses and let their children out. This is very unsafe.

This week we launched our Star of Hope Christmas outreach. This very important and long-standing tradition allows our community to help those who may be struggling and provide a brighter Christmas for families in our very own community. We cannot tell you how this outreach has assisted as many as 60 families over the years and allowed us to donate to charities and St. Vincent de Paul throughout Halton. And this Christmas, the need is still great.

  • Let’s get decorate the tree! Send in your gift card(s) from now until December 8th and your child will be invited to place a star(s) on our Christmas tree in the foyer.
  • Donate your gift cards for grocery, gas, retail (Winners, Walmart, clothing etc.), restaurant, beverage, movie and pharmacy by December 8th
  • We encourage our community to support St. Teresa by purchasing your Star of Hope and Christmas gift cards via FUNDSCRIP using the St. Teresa of Calcutta code DY6CWF.

If your place of work would like to donate or purchase employee gift cards, please send us an email at and we can assist.

St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School Council

Human Rights and Equity Advisory Council

Our HCDSB schools are committed to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environments that support student achievement and well-being in our Catholic schools. Human Rights and Equity are guiding values that are consistent both with Catholic Social Teaching, reaffirming the dignity of every individual, as well as the Ontario Human Rights Code, which safeguards students and staff from discrimination based on the protected grounds.

The Board’s Equity and Inclusive Education Steering Committee is in the process of forming a Human Rights and Equity Advisory Council (HREAC) to engage community stakeholders including parents, students and community organizations.

The purpose of the HREAC is to assist in identifying community needs and to provide advice and guidance on addressing systemic barriers and supporting historically underserved members of the 2SLGBTQ+, racialized and Black communities in the HCDSB.

Parents/guardians and students in Grades 7-12 interested in serving on the HREAC are invited to submit an application online through the HREAC Membership Application Form
