Playground Updates and Co Vid Safety Protocols
We have recently purchased over $1600 worth of playground equipment (i.e., utility balls, soccer balls, basketballs etc.). New equipment is expected to arrive in the coming week. As well, we have invested approximately $3000 in repainting/refreshing and new painting of lines (i.e., basketball keys, four-square, hopscotch and popular playground games.).
As per HCDSB guidelines students remain in their cohorts outside. For the safety and well-being of all students we will continue to maintain physical distancing and manage safe play.
Please know that the use of playground equipment is not mandatory. This is a school based decision to allow for the use of balls. As such, we ask for your support in reviewing safety guidelines at home and for encouraging your children to follow these rules. This reduces risk and ensures that we keep everyone “in school”. We would like our children to have the full experience of “in school” learning – physically, academically, socially and spiritually.
For the safety and well-being of all students and staff, parents and guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment.
- Check your child’s temperature to ensure they do not have a fever (temperature greater than 37.8C)
- Monitor for signs and symptoms (including atypical symptoms) of COVID-19
- Individuals experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 as identified in the screening tool, must not attend school and should follow the guidance provided in the screening tool
The Government of Ontario daily self-screening tool can be accessed here: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
Parents, please be advised that throughout the school year we will practice Fire drills, Lockdown drills and Bomb Threat drills. Drills are adjusted to comply with Co Vid distancing protocols.
