Dear Parents, please review the Updated Public Health Recommendations for School Reopening below.
Orange Shirt Day – Wednesday, September 30th
Students and staff are invited to wear an orange shirt to school on September 30th, to recognize the harm residential schools did to children’s sense of self-esteem and wellbeing. This day also honours those that survived, remembers those who did not, and recognizes the ongoing effects of intergenerational trauma. Wearing an orange shirt is a visual reminder of our shared past and provides an opportunity for dialogue between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. It is an opportunity for schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
Curriculum Night – Thursday October 1st
Dear St. Teresa of Calcutta Families,
Thank you for all your continued support as we work through the new routines and expectations. The second official full week for all St. Teresa of Calcutta students has been incredibly successful. I thank you, our wonderful students, and amazing staff.
We are writing to inform you that we will host our traditional St. Teresa of Calcutta Curriculum Night in a non-traditional way this year. Although the school year may seem different, our purpose remains the same, to keep our students “happy , safe and learning”. On Thursday October 1, we will host our Virtual St.Teresa of Calcutta Curriculum Night – with a Powerpoint presentation delivered live by your child’s teacher. There will be 2 sessions offered: 6-6:30pm and another session at 6:45- 7:15pm
All parents will receive their teacher’s prepared Curriculum Night PowerPoint presentation on Sept. 30th for their perusal ahead of time. On October 1st at 6pm and again at 6:45pm teachers will present and speak to the presentation live! This will take place on the TEAMS platform.
During Curriculum Night, staff will present their PowerPoint live and be available to answer any questions with respect to their presentation or the delivery of curriculum. Teachers will present either a recorded tour or a collection of still pictures of your child’s classroom in addition to the online platform of your child’s class.
Staff will be happy to address and answer any questions regarding the PowerPoint presentation relating to curriculum and classroom expectations. This will not be an opportunity to discuss individual student achievement or issues outside of the Curriculum presentations created by staff. Should you have additional questions, or require clarification on other issues or topics, staff will be glad to take calls in the following days to address other questions or concerns parents may have. Simply contact your child’s teacher and schedule a phone call or another virtual meeting.
* Your child’s teacher will send out to each parent via e-mail an invite to TEAMS. Directions will accompany the email invitation. Look for this email invitation On September 29, 2020.
