Weekly Update: October 11th-15th

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope all of our Stormy families had a blessed and relaxing Thanksgiving! We are thankful for our inquisitive students, our dedicated staff, our collaborative families and our Catholic Faith community. God bless!

Please refer to the information updates below:

Parents and guardians must continue to perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE arriving at school using the

As the Ontario COVID-19 School and Child Care Screener states:

You must stay home if you have COVID-19 symptoms or are waiting for test results after experiencing symptoms.

Everyone in your household (unless they are fully vaccinated) must also stay home until you get a negative COVID-19 test result, or you are cleared by public health, or you are diagnosed with another illness. Get a COVID-19 test (not a rapid antigen test) if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or are a contact of a known COVID-19 case.

Anyone who is sick or has any symptoms of illness, including those not listed in this screening tool, should stay home and seek assessment from their health care provider if needed.

As our school has grown, our parking lot has become busier as well. For those who are choosing to drive their child(ren) to school and/or pick up after school, you MUST park in a parking spot. We are seeing an increase of adults stopping their cars and getting out to go to the Kinder gate at dismissal. Ensure that you park your car in a parking spot. If one is not available, you may also park off school property in the community and walk to the school yard.

DO NOT park and abandon your vehicle where it blocks the flow of traffic.

Please share this information with anyone who will drive your child(ren) to or pick up from our school.

It’s that Spooky time of year, and we have a scary new lineup of activities for a new ‘FUN’RAISER – the Halloween Dance-a-Thon. This event will take place on Friday, October 29th and students will be able to come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes (no scary masks or weapons please). All students must wear their cloth facial mask with their costume on this day as per our COVID protocols.

We will showcase everyone’s costume with a virtual Halloween costume parade before each class is given their individual time to go to the gym to have a short dance party! All COVID safety protocols will be in place for this dance event.

After each class has their time in the gym, each class will go back to their classroom for a special allergen safe Halloween treat and some fun Halloween activities.

Thank you to our generous St. Scholastica school community for your donations to our Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Social Justice Team did a fantastic job promoting and organizing the event. All food donations supported the Halton Food for Life!

This week we are excited to welcome back two hot lunch options: Kidssentials (Wednesdays) and Pizza Day (Thursdays) for families who have ordered.

Our St. Scholastica Catholic School Council will hold their commissioning meeting on Monday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
