Happy Father’s Day

All the staff at St Scholastica would like to wish all our Dads and Grandfathers, a very special Father’s Day this coming Sunday!  Thank you for everything you do!

Congratulations Grade 8 Graduates

On Friday, June 25th, our Grade 8s will officially have their graduation day!  The virtual presentation will be sent to the families of the graduates on Thursday, June 24th.  We are so proud of our St Scholastica Graduates and we wish them all the best as they move onto the next chapter of their lives.  We wish them all the best in everything they do!

 SEA Equipment (Specialized Equipment Amount)

If your child has SEA (Specialized Equipment Amount) equipment home, including but not limited to laptops, headsets, and computer mouse, please return to the school on June 28 and 29th. Your child’s SERT will deliver the equipment to their classroom in September.

Year End Liturgy

Please join us for end of year liturgy on Monday, June 21st at 9:30 am.  As special thank you goes out to our Kindergarten staff and students for creating the presentation. Your child’s teacher will place the link to the liturgy in their regular Microsoft Teams chat.

National Indigenous Peoples Day

On June 21, 2021 is the national 25th anniversary of celebrating the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples!

Report Cards

Once again, in light of health and safety protocols due to COVID-19, all student report cards will be delivered electronically.  Elementary Term 2 Report Cards will be emailed directly to parents and guardians on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

As you know, on March 22, 2021, the Halton OECTA Elementary Association began a job action across our district. As part of the current phase of job action, permanent teachers have been directed by OECTA not to prepare or input comments on student report cards.

In light of this job sanction, for most elementary students, the report card will include grade marks, but no comments.

Notwithstanding the above, please note the following:

  • If your child’s teacher is a Long Term Occasional Teacher (i.e. not a permanent teacher with the Board), your child’s report card will include both grade marks and comments.
  • If your child is in Kindergarten, one comment (sentence) will be included in each frame of the report.
  • If your child is evaluated on an alternative report card (which does not include a grade mark), the report will include one comment (sentence) for each section of the report.

As always, if you have any questions about your child’s learning, please contact their teacher directly.

Personal Items in The School

Prior to the April SPring Brak, all teachers were instructed to send home their students’ personal belongings. There should be o personal belongings left inside the school building that will need to be distributed at the end of June.

The exception to this would be for students in any of our five classrooms that were closed and in COVID-19 isolation up to and including the day of Friday, April 9th, 2021. If your child was in one of these five closed classrooms, we will be in touch regarding the pickup of any personal items that were left in the school.

If there are any other families, who know for certain, that there is a personal item that belongs to your family still here at school, you are asked to please click on the link below and to indicate your child’s name, grade, teacher’s name, and the item that you need collected for pick up. Please do not complete this form if your child was in one of our five closed classes that were closed as of April 9th – once again, we will be communicating a plan with these families shortly. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=fas3Jb0likmmQnwTV3nm0rY4cqU3B9RBpHRYAvlCc0xUQ0hVMFpQMTA1UkpWSVQwWlNGV0JIWEdFSi4u

Once the Principal and Vice PRincipal have collected the item that you had requested in this form, you will be contacted regarding the date and time for pick up.

Borrowed Technology Returns

If your child borrowed a school device to assist them with access to remote learning, these devices are due back for return no later than 4:00pm on Wednesday, June 30th. Please return the device and its matching power cord to the school by bringing it to the main door and buzzing the door buzzer. Someone will be out to obtain this device from you. Please ensure that the device is clean and labelled with your name and grade. Once again, ALL DEVICES MUST BE RETURNED NO LATER THAN 4:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30TH. IF your family was provided with an internet hub or LTE stick, these too must be returned (cleaned and labelled) by this day and time. The internet hubs will be shut down and will not be active and available for use after this date and time, but the hardware must be returned.

Mental Health  Update

Meditation and mindfulness is such a powerful tool for stress management and to simply generate a sense of calm in the body, heart, and mind.  This one focuses on the rainbow in honour of Pride month and is a favourite.

Please consider having your children sit quietly with you, while you read this aloud while they envision the rainbow and find some stillness.
