Weekly Update for Week of November 23rd, 2020

Book Fair

This year, St. Scholastica students will be able to enjoy their very first Scholastic Book Fair!  It will run for two weeks.  Virtually, from Friday November 20th – Friday Dec. 4th and/or in-person for the students from Monday Nov. 23rd – Friday Dec. 4th.  Safety is our number one priority!  This year students will be able to view the books from the hallway during their scheduled class visit through our huge library window displays on both floors.  Students will not be entering the library or touching any products unless purchased.   A flyer will be sent home next week to browse some of the books with your child.  The books can also be found through our virtual book fair website,  Any books purchased virtually will be shipped directly to your home with free shipping for purchases over $35 or FREE SHIPPING on Wed. Nov. 25th from 6-8pm.  You can send money in with your student to purchase directly from the school and we encourage exact payment if possible.  A debit machine will be available for any older students wishing to use one.  The Scholastic Book Fair is a great way to raise funds for our school library and get even more books into our students’ hands.  We thank you for support!

PA Day Friday November 27th. NO SCHOOL for students

The kiss-and-ride has been running very smoothly in the morning and we are so very happy for your patience and support!  We are having some challenges in the afterschool pick up where parents are parking in the loop and/or in the laneway where cars are expected to drive out.  We are asking that all parents either park their car in a spot in our lot (on the kindergarten yard side) and if there are no spots available, that you park on the roadside and walk in.  Please note, as the colder weather along with the winter conditions appear, the kiss-and-ride will require even more harmony.  We would like to keep the loop open for the remainder of the year!!!  SAVE THE LOOP!!

Community Update

As our numbers in Halton Continue to increase at a very rapid rate, we are imploring you all to follow the Halton Public Health and stay home.  No play dates!  Please watch this VERY short video from our Public Health Officer Dr. Maghami.

Fund Raiser

We have just completed week one of our main fundraiser for St Scholastica this year!  Please recognize that any amount will help us this year.  Attached, you will find the Catholic School Council letter outlining the plan this year.

Report Cards

Report cards go home via email on Tuesday November 24 via email.  You will require your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to access the report card.  Please refer to previous report cards to attain the OEN.

Change in Learning Environment Survey

The Change in Learning Environment Survey (Opt-in/Opt-out) will be sent this coming week. Please ensure that if you want to change from virtual learning to face-to-face or face-to-face to virtual, you must complete the survey in the allotted time.  Once the survey has closed, no changes will be made to your child’s learning environment.  By this, we mean, if you are currently enrolled in conventional learning (in school) and you want to move online, you must meet the deadline, or your child will remain in the conventional learning model.  Conversely, if your child is learning virtually, (online) and you do not respond to the survey, your child will remain online.   We would also like to ensure that you understand that with every transition there may be reorganization at the school level.  We appreciate your continued patience and support.

Please note, the scheduling tool is based on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Once the schedule has been completed, you will receive further information from your child’s teacher.
