SURVEY SENT OUT BY THE SCHOOL BOARD ABOUT OPTIONAL FRENCH PROGRAMMING – VERY IMPORTANT!!!

This past week you should have received an email sent to you by the Halton Catholic District School Board seeking your input on the possibility of extending optional French programming (French Immersion) at various school sites throughout our board. If you are a family who is not interested in the French Immersion program you may think that this survey is something that you can ignore – this is not the case! I implore ALL FAMILIES to respond to this survey, as the results could drive decisions about the extension of this program that could have drastic impacts on a school like ours who hosts the program and could also create the need for school boundary revisions for all schools in Milton. Please review this email carefully and take 3-5 minutes to reply to the survey. It is imperative that our Trustees hear the voice not only from parents who have a vested interest in the extension of the French Immersion programs within our board but also those whose community schools could be impacted by future changes.

For more details about this potential expansion of the French Immersion Program, please visit our website at: http://bit.ly/HCDSBFrenchExpansion

APPROPRIATE OUTDOOR WEAR

It is cold and windy outside in our playground! Please remember that it is that time of year when our weather changes drastically throughout the day. Layering is a great solution for our students to ensure that they have the proper wear. Don’t forget indoor shoes, boots, snow pants, gloves, and hats!  Students are outside for all regular outside activities when it is warmer than -15°C. When temperatures range between -15°C to -20°C, students may remain outside for no longer than 20-minute intervals, once temperatures are colder than -20°C students must remain inside.

PROMOTING WELL BEING – How Much Privacy Should Teens Have in the Digital Age?

Tips to keep you kids safe in the digital world.

By Crystal Raypole at Healthline

“As children get older, they begin to individuate, or develop their own unique sense of identity. As part of this normal developmental process, they begin to want more space and privacy from their parents and caregivers. Most parents remember going through this stage themselves. But you might still feel a little uneasy, even frightened, about your teen’s increased need for privacy, especially when it comes to the internet. You love your child and want to keep them safe, and your awareness of internet predators, cyberbullying, and other online dangers can make you wonder how it’s possible to both give them privacy and ensure their safety.

There are several ways to allow your teen a measure of privacy online but still keep them safe.” Read more at – https://thriveglobal.com/stories/how-much-privacy-teens-digital-age/
