Weekly Update: Week of May 11th – 15th, 2020

“The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother.” ~ St. Therese of Lisieux

CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK UPDATE

We would like to thank the St. Peter CES community and staff members for engaging in all the Catholic Education Week activities that supported the theme of ‘Igniting Hope’. The photographs shared on Twitter helped to demonstrate the wonderful work our Catholic schools are engaged in.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Motherhood is one of God’s greatest gifts to humanity. On Mother’s Day, we hope that you will take the time to say thanks to all the Mom’s in your life and that their days are showered with love and blessings.

Sunday, May 10th, 2020 is Mother’s Day. We honour and celebrate all of our mothers – including our grandmothers, godmothers, new mothers, mothers-to-be, step-mothers, foster mothers, adoptive mothers and all those who care for us in motherly ways. We also pray for all mothers who have entered the heavenly kingdom. During this month of May, we continue to pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary, our role model of humility, patience, compassion, love and grace.

A Special Blessing to All Mothers

Holy God, You compared your own love for your people to the love of a mother for her children. Look with kindess on all mothers who have shared in your creating love by the gift of their children.

We thank you for the joys and sorrows of their life, the giving and sharing, and, especially for your love that has formed us in your image.

Listen to our prayers, and bless all mothers who have nurtured and sustained us. Give them patience in abundance and let them find joy and satisfaction in all their work.

Glory and praise to you, loving God, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, and who reigns with you in the glory of heaven, for ever and ever.

Amen

A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIOCESE

All of the churches in the Diocese of Hamilton are currently closed. However, while we cannot gather for Mass, our priests continue to celebrate Mass privately for the intentions of the faithful. Many of our parishes are regularly live streaming Sunday Masses and special Masses for us as well. But without our weekly offerings, our churches are suffering. Please consider supporting our church with your donations through this period of closure.
