STUDENT CLASS PLACEMENT – SEPTEMBER 2019
Although it is only April, preparations are now being made to ensure that our school is organized for the 2019 – 2020 school year. As such, in the coming months, teachers will be organizing student class placements. As you can appreciate, many hours of consultation and meetings go into the class building process to ensure the appropriate placement of all students.
When building a class, teachers look at the following criteria:
- Balance of ability – academic skills
- Balance according to gender
- Learning style – how the learner learns
- Teaching style – how the teacher teaches
- Social blending – who works well with whom
- Parental input – re: learning style of the student
Parental input is important to us and will be considered alongside the above mentioned criteria. Of note, specific teacher requests will not be entertained; however, a letter indicating the learning style of your child and the type of environment that they best perform in will be considered. Letters should be submitted to Mr. T. Demeris before Wednesday, May 21st, 2019. Please remember that many discussions go into developing classes that maximize opportunities for each child to learn and be successful. Your ongoing trust and support in our professional judgment is appreciated.
