Weekly Update June 21-25

Good afternoon,

Term 2 Report Cards

Student report cards will be delivered electronically on Wednesday, June 23rd – families will need their child’s OEN (Ontario Education Number) to access the report.  As a reminder, please note that HCDSB communicated the following last week:

  • In light of job sanctions, most elementary student report cards will include grade marks, but no comments.
  • If your child’s teacher is a Long-Term Occasional Teacher (i.e. not a permanent teacher with the Board), your child’s report card will include both grade marks and comments.
  • If your child is in Kindergarten, one comment (sentence) will be included in each frame of the report.
  • If your child is evaluated on an alternative report card (which does not include a grade mark), the report will include one comment (sentence) for each section of the report.

If you have any questions about your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teacher directly.

Year End Liturgies

Virtual links for both our Graduation Liturgy – Tuesday, June 22, and our St. Nicholas Year End Liturgy -Wednesday June 24 will be posted on your child’s D2L platform next week. Both liturgies will begin at 9:35 am.

Drop Off/Pick Up of Items: June 28/29

A protocol has been established for Monday June 28th and Tuesday June 29th for families who need to pick up personal belongings and return borrowed school items. All textbooks, library books and borrowed technology must be returned at this time.

Families will register online using the following link   The Access Code is nick2021 – please note when registering – sign up for one time slot only, we will organize all student belongings by family for all siblings attending St. Nicholas for that one assigned time slot.  Families will use the main driveway in front of the school for the return/pick up.

As communicated, all tech devices must be returned by the end of June unless students are enrolled in a summer learning program. If your child requires the device for their summer learning, please email Mrs. Spotswood.

NOTE: Educators will provide asynchronous tasks for students on June 28th and June 29th.

We ask that you adhere to Public Health guidelines of wearing a mask and to please wait if another family is at the door picking up/dropping off their belongings. Thank you for your co-operation!

Early Dismissal on Tuesday, June 29

A reminder that our last day of asynchronous learning is Tuesday, June 29th. Our school day will end 90 minutes earlier at 1:50 pm.

A Father’s Day Prayer

Bless all the fathers in the world. Father, we ask that You guide them to be good role models and loving to their children. We also ask that You help them to be a father like You are. Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way.
