Weekly Update November 15th

Good afternoon,

Progress Reports for Gr. 1-8 students and Communication of Learning for Kindergarten students will be sent home Wednesday, November 20 with interview times for Thursday, November 21 or Friday, November 22. Please review the Progress Report, sign the acknowledgement slip and return to the classroom teacher with the envelope.

Christmas is quickly approaching and we continue to support our community through our Angel Tree Program. The Angels on the tree indicate specific items that can be donated this holiday season. We are encouraging students to get permission from their parents, which can be given via the agenda, before choosing an Angel. Angels can be selected from our tree during Parent/Teacher Interviews (November 21st-22nd). Unwrapped gifts must be brought in to the homeroom teacher by Monday, December 9th. When selecting an Angel, we are making a family’s Christmas both merry and bright. Thank you for your generosity!

Christmas Shop is Coming… The St. Nicholas Christmas Shop is fast approaching and we need your help to ensure it will be a success! Christmas Shop is an opportunity for all our students to shop for small Christmas gifts for family, friends and even pets! All purchases will come home wrapped so that it is a surprise for the recipient.

Please SAVE THE DATES: December 2 (set-up), and 3, 4 and 5 to volunteer! Everyone who has a current Police Record Check on file is welcome to help. Look for our Online Signup to be up and running on November 20 and sign up for as little or as much time as you have available. We will need close to 50 volunteers over the 4 days!

Donations are another way to help contribute to the success of our Christmas Shop. We are happy to receive small, new items to be sold at the Christmas Shop, as well as gift bags, tissue paper and tape to be used at the Shop, and shopping bags to send the items home. Donations can be submitted to the main office. Thank you, we are looking forward to a fun and fabulous Christmas Shop!

Save the Date – Our Kindergarten Advent Celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11. The Gr. 1-8 The Nativity Story will be presented on Thursday, December 12 at St. James Parish. More information to follow shortly.

The winter weather is here – both Inclement Weather Safety Procedures and Inclement Weather Transportation Cancellations and Emergency School Closures are posted on our school website.

Students should be dressing appropriately for winter conditions. If students want access to the field during the winter months they must be wearing their boots. Students in Gr. 1-3 will need to wear snow pants. All students should have a change of footwear to keep the school safe and dry. Any questions regarding our winter protocol can be directed to the main office.

Finally, St. Nicholas School is once again making poinsettias available for purchase. Order forms have been sent home with students and should be returned to the homeroom teachers by Wednesday, November 27th – families can purchase poinsettias using our Cash Online system. Thank you once again to our Catholic School Council!

If there are any questions please feel free to contact the main office.
