A New Era Begins at St. Michael Catholic Elementary School
St. Michael Catholic Elementary School in Oakville first opened its doors to students in 1964. In September, 2018, students from St. Michael school will join students from St. John Catholic Elementary School in Oakville to form a new school community.
The decision to consolidate our two school communities came to be after a review that took place during the 2016-2017 school year, resulting in a decision to close St. John Catholic Elementary School and combine the school communities of St. Michael and St. John on the St. Michael site.
In February, 2018, a vote took place to determine the name of the consolidated school community. The preference of the community was to name the new community, St. Michael Catholic Elementary School.
A new school logo was created, honouring both the St. John and the St. Michael communities by incorporating the symbols and colours of each of the previous school logos.
We now look forward to combining the rich traditions of the St. Michael and St. John school communities, knowing that together we will create new memories and establish new traditions for the students, families and staff in our new St. Michael Catholic Elementary School community!
