What to Expect in the Days and Weeks Ahead

SUBJECT: What to Expect in the Days and Weeks Ahead

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of all of our staff, I wanted to reach out to let you know that we are thinking of our students and families, and hoping you are all keeping well.  Please continue to follow the advice of Halton Public Health to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including the direction for self-isolation for those who have returned from out-of-country March Break trips.

As you know from the email you received from our Director last week, the Ministry of Education released their online portal with a variety of educational resources for students and families. If you have not yet had an opportunity to have a look at the resources, they are available at:

Our school board is currently working on additional resources that will be shared on an ongoing basis.  While these digital resources will help keep students engaged for the next week or so, much like the Ministry resources, they are not intended to replace the curriculum which students would have been receiving if they had been back in school this week.

Although we have not received any official notice or direction from the Ministry of Education regarding an extension of this school closure beyond April 5, 2020, based on comments shared by the Premier earlier this week, we are anticipating and preparing for an extension of the school closure.

To that end, we are actively working with our school board on a plan that will connect and engage students in teacher led instruction within a distance learning environment.  Many of our teachers have already been doing this and will continue to do so.  However, please keep in mind that teachers in our school, across our school board, and across the province will be at various stages in this process and in their familiarity with supporting students in an online environment.  As a school and a Board, we are working with all our teachers to create teaching and learning conditions that will, as best as possible given the circumstances, lead to the successful completion of the school year for all students.

Over the next few days, we will be connecting with you regarding next steps as we transition to a teacher led learning environment for your child.  If your child does not have access to a device or the internet at home, please reach out to me so that we can work on developing other options.

Just a reminder to check your email regularly for updates and information from the Board. Information will also continue to be posted on the Board website at:

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and support during these uncertain times. As a staff, we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open and working with parents as we navigate through these unchartered waters. We have a strong, vibrant school community and we will continue to do all we can to meet the needs of our learners.

As always, we continue to draw on our faith and offer prayers for the safety and well-being of those who are sick, and those who are working on the frontlines to care for them.
