Weekly Update – June 22nd (Final Week)

Pick-up of Student Belongings/Drop-off of Burrowed Items – Wednesday, June 24th:
Early last week, we sent home a detailed letter, outlining the information and steps to select a time to pick your child(ren)’s belongings (from locker & desks). Belongings will be packed together by family so parents only have one pick-up as you drive up to your designated location on Wednesday. Please CLICK HERE if you still need to select a time to pick up materials on Wednesday. Please note the link to select times will close tomorrow night (June 22nd) at 11:00 pm.
Bins will be at each pick-up station for the return of materials belonging to the school. Please ensure you return:
1.) Technology (devices) borrowed
2.) Special education equipment
3.) Sports uniforms/equipment (Hockey, basketball uniforms, etc.)
4.) Library books and textbooks

Parents are reminded to please review the relevant information and protocols in the letter.
Report Cards – Wednesday, June 24th:
This year, in light of the school closures due to COVID-19, student report cards will be delivered electronically. The report cards will be delivered directly to parents and guardians by email on Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Parents and guardians will need their child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) in order to access the report card. Your child’s OEN number can be found on a previous report card.  The Ministry has waived the expectation for both a teacher and parental signature for this reporting period.  The School Principal’s electronic signature will appear on all student report cards.
As with all reporting periods, parents and guardians may contact their child’s teacher to arrange a time to discuss the report card.
You are also welcome to contact the school should you have any questions.
Class Placements for 2020-2021 School Year:
Please be advised that you will be able to access information about your child’s class placement on Friday, September 4, 2020, after 9:00 a.m.  This information will be available on the Board’s website at: www.hcdsb.org. On the Home page, please click on the “Schools” tab and then on the “School Listing” tab in the drop-down menu.  You will be directed to the school listing page. Once you have arrived on this page, please click on “Class Placements”, beside the appropriate Elementary school name.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to access this information, you will require your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN), which can be found on his/her report card. Please click on the link for instructions: Website Instructions – September 2020.
*These typical procedures may change with the uncertainty of what our return to school will look like.
Staff Departing St. Matthew School:
The end of each school year unfortunately results in various staff members moving on from our school. This year, we will say “goodbye for now” to the following staff members. We wish the following staff members well as they move onto the next step in their career: Ms. Hinton, Mrs. Goodall, Ms. Ball, Ms. Mulroy, Mr. Waring, Mme Tata, Mrs. Coles, Mrs. Peric, and Mrs. Marktic. In a very special way, we would like to also recognize and congratulate Mrs. Luburic and Mrs. Brophy on their retirements! All of these individuals have made tremendous contributions to our school. They will be missed greatly and we wish them nothing but the best. We wish Mrs. Luburic and Mrs. Brophy many years of health and happiness during their years of retirement.
