Weekly Update – March 9th – 13th

During Lent, we are in a season of preparation, self-reflection and repentance. We are reminded of the importance of almsgiving, prayer and fasting.  Prayer reunites us to God; charity, to our neighbour; and fasting, to ourselves.

Lenten Outreach Initiative :

We will continue with our annual tradition of completing Lenten Kits for Kids, for the Canadian Food for Children organization. Letters were sent home with all students and we ask for all forms (Lenten Shoebox Letter 2020) to be returned asap. Our cash online system is open and will remain open until March 27th. Please see the attached letter above and/or the hard copy sent home for all other details. Thanks in advance!

Our Student Ambassadors will also lead another initiative leading up to Easter, through the St. Vincent de Paul Society (at St. Matthew Parish). More information to follow in the coming week or so.

Reminder of Parking Lot and Road Safety:

A reminder to all parents that there is no stopping or parking in the lot driveway, unless you are in an actual parking space. The best options for drop off/pick-up are using the Kiss & Ride (in the morning) and parking at the church. Please drive slowly, cautiously and patiently during our drop off and pick up times and pay special attention for walking/riding students.  We may need to increase staff supervision at the end of the day and limit entry, to decrease the number of cars travelling through our lot at dismissal time. We understand this is a busy time of day and weather can make things more difficult as well. However, we need to put the safety of our students first. Keeping our students safe is a collective effort and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

2019-2020 Yearbooks!

In case you missed our email from last week, we need your help with photos for this year’s yearbook. We respectfully ask that you read the attached letter (below), which outlines directions for sending pictures. We are thankful for all those involved in creating this special keepsake for our families.

Australian Koala Foundation Fundraiser:

Thank you to our entire community for a great response! Thank you as well to Miss Donovan’s class and to our Eco Team for leading this initiative. We collected $858.80, adopted a mom and joey koala named Clara and Cobar, and also purchased the Bronze Leaf package in order to plant new trees in Australia. It was great to see so many students become invested in this initiative and live our faith by helping those in need!

French Public Speaking Event – We will be hosting our annual French public speaking event on Tuesday at 9:00. We welcome all parents who have children participating in this event. Thank you to all staff who have assisted with our Public Speaking events.

Have a great week!

For any families travelling during the break, we wish you all and enjoyable trip with your loved ones.

Your Partners,

M. Simon and V. Chininea
