A Prayer for Lent
Gracious and Merciful God, throughout our Lenten journey, we are asked to be more gracious and merciful ourselves. Yet we often avoid looking into our own hearts for fear of learning the extent to which we have lost our way. As we continue our travels, help us, we pray, to sacrifice our own comforts in order to help those in need. May we appreciate that your limitless love, compassion and forgiveness always journey with us. Amen.
Thank you to all parents who volunteered on Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday! Pancakes were served to almost 500 students! We wanted to also extend a big thank you to No Frills (Glen Abbey) and the Andreopoulos family, owners of the Sunset Grill (Oakville North Location), for the generous donations.
Lenten Outreach Initiative – We will continue with our annual tradition of completing Lenten Kits for Kids, for the Canadian Food for Children organization. Letters were sent home with all students and we ask for all forms (Lenten Shoebox Letter 2020) to be returned asap. Our cash online system is open and will remain open until March 27th. Please see the attached letter above and/or the hard copy sent home for all other details. Thanks in advance!
Labour Negotiations Update:
Our School will be closed to students on Thursday, March 5th as a result of the recent announcement by OECTA of a province-wide, one-day full withdrawal of services. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We appreciate the work of our dedicated staff and support them during this difficult time. Please click here to see our board’s website updates on labour negotiations.
Pizza Day Change – Due to the job action this Thursday, we will be having our pizza day this Friday, March 6th. Thank you to our many volunteers who have modified their schedules to assist with this. We appreciate all your time and effort!
Parking Lot and Road Safety:
A reminder to all parents that there is no stopping or parking in the lot driveway, unless you are in an actual parking space. By-law officers with the Town of Oakville continue to monitor our lot and will issue tickets for parking in fire routes, etc. Please remember that the best options for drop off/pick-up are using the Kiss & Ride (in the morning) and parking at the church. In addition, Halton Police have been monitoring driving in front of our school (Nottinghill Gate & Monk’s Passage). It is our understanding that some tickets have been issued recently. Please drive slowly, cautiously and patiently during our drop off and pick up times and pay special attention for walking/riding students. Keeping our students safe is a collective effort and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation.
Have a great week!
