As we enter the second week of Advent…
God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome. Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy, so that we may share His wisdom and become one with Him when He comes in glory, for He lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
We hope you can join us for our Advent mass this Wednesday, December 11th at 10:00 am.

Thank you once again to everyone who participated in our Angel Tree program this year. Through your generosity, so many will be assisted and receive the spirit of Christmas. To conclude our Advent outreach initiatives, we have begun our sock & mitten drive (new purchases). Families and students are now welcome to hang new socks and mittens/gloves on our Christmas tree. Please note, this will only be for one week, ending this Friday, December 13th. Please click HERE for more details.
Family Vacations During the Holidays – If you plan to leave early for a family vacation, or, you will be on vacation when classes resume in January, we kindly ask that you inform us. Please inform classroom teachers and the office. Trips of 5 consecutive days or longer will require signing forms in the office. We also ask that you ensure absences are recorded in School Messenger (App or calling). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us in the office.
Early Dismissal on December 20th – Please note that students within the region will be dismissed early on Friday, December 20th. Our students will be dismissed at 1:40 pm and buses will be picking up students according to this modified schedule.
A Special Thank You – We want to extend a special thank you to Mr. Vaduva, a parent in our school, and his company (Fundex Investments) for donating 40 restored laptops to our school! These computers are in the process of being re-imaged and will go directly to classrooms shortly for student use…we appreciate your generosity. THANK YOU!!!
Winter Uniform Swap
Seasons change and children grow, it’s time to change your uniforms you know!
St. Matthew is having another uniform swap! Please bring in gently used uniform items on December 12 and 13 before and after the Christmas concerts. If you can not attend the Christmas concerts or your children are not participating in them, please send in the items of clothing you wish to swap with your children. Your family’s name and how many items submitted will be recorded. During the exchange, you can choose the same amount as donated (2 items donated = 2 new items to choose from)
The exchange will be taking place January 8th from 3-5pm in the school gymnasium. Only families who have participated/donated items for the uniform swap can attend on this day.
On January 15th from 3-5 pm, we invite parents to visit the school to purchase used items – this event will be open to any parent who is interested. Each used uniform item will be $5.00. Please bring cash.
Kidssentials Hot Lunch Program – If you are interested in ordering food for your child/ren, please click here to read their December newsletter.
Reminder – A Message from the Town of Oakville:
- As we have sent in previous weeks, please be mindful of where you park around the school parking lots. By-law officers are consistently monitoring, especially for parking violations in fire routes and accessible parking spaces being occupied without the appropriate permit. As fines can be significant, please avoid parking in these areas.
- Also, the Town is continuing work along the Taplow Creek (behind our school), to improve surfacing, drainage, etc. This work will continue over the next couple weeks and may result in closures of portions of trail during this time. Please contact the Town (Parks & Open Space Department) if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great week!
