Weekly Update – Final Week!

Best Wishes to Everyone!

It is hard to believe we are entering our last week of the school year. So much has been accomplished this school year and we are incredibly proud of our students! We would like to thank you for a great year, working together for the success of all students at St. Matthew Catholic School. We would like to extend a thank you to all parents who have volunteered this year. You make a big difference and help to make our school such a special place to be at each day. Special thank you and best wishes to all families moving on next year.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful and dedicated staff of our school. They truly go above and beyond in many ways for our students. We are fortunate and privileged to work with them every day. Unfortunately, some will be leaving us to pursue new opportunities in the fall. Thank you and best wishes to those who are moving on to other schools/opportunities.

We wish everyone in the community a blessed summer and look forward to seeing you in September. We will continue to update the website and emails will be sent out as needed. All the best to you and your loved ones – we look forward to seeing you back in September!

Early Dismissal on Friday – Please note that students will be dismissed across the region 90 minutes prior to regular dismissal. Therefore, our students will be dismissed at 1:40 pm. Buses will run accordingly.

Grade 8 Graduation:

Congratulations to our Graduation Class of 2019! We look forward to the graduation ceremony tomorrow night. Our Graduating Class has had a wonderful year and has contributed in many ways to the life of St. Matthew School over the  years. We wish all our graduates continued success as they embrace their goals and aspirations.

Hot Lunch, Lunches and Final Week Celebrations:

A quick reminder that all hot lunch options (pizza and Kidssentials) have ended. The end of the school year is an exciting time for our students and it is important to celebrate as a class community. However, we would like to remind all parents that NO homemade or other foods should be sent into the school to share with the students. Thank you again for helping to keep all students safe.

Safe Arrival Program:

Just a brief reminder to please call/enter all student absences in School Messenger for our final week of school. It is essential to know the whereabouts of all students as we check attendance each morning and afternoon. This will be a VERY busy week and we want to ensure the safety of everyone. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Students with Medical Conditions/Allergies:

All medical packages for the 2019-2020 year have been sent home.  All epi-pens and inhalers housed at school will be returned on the last day (June 28th).  If your child has additional medications at school, a parent is required to come pick it up from the office.  All medication not picked up by the end of the school year will be disposed of.

We will be sending a dedicated email this week and again later in August to review the process for checking your children’s September class placement. This information will be accessed from the board’s website (hcdsb.org) and you will need your child’s OEN number, which can be found on their report card.

Know how to repair/tune guitars?

We are looking for parent volunteers who may know how to change guitar strings, tune and possibly how to make simple repairs on them.
