Rainbow Day ~ Tuesday, June 1st

We will kick off our Pride Month celebrations with Rainbow Day on Tuesday, June 1st.

Students and staff are encouraged to dress in their most colourful clothes as we celebrate the rainbow – a sign of God’s promise to love us and a symbol of inclusion for all in our community! We will begin the day with our school wide liturgy that will celebrate a day to love one another and celebrate our differences, just as God loves and celebrates each one of us because we are all “wonderfully made.” Please watch out for our Family Rainbow Day Activity that will be tweeted out to our school community on June 1st!

Indigenous Month

Throughout the month of June, we honour the history, heritage, and diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada. It is a great time to learn more about the many Indigenous cultures that exist, and to recognize and appreciate the contributions of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people that have shaped the country.

Kahoot Night – June 3rd

Mark your calendars!  On Thursday, June 3rd, at 6:30 p.m., St. Mary will be hosting a Family Kahoot! Trivia Night.  We hope that everyone can join us for this fun community event!  Parents and students are encouraged to work together as a team in one or both of the categories: “Disney Trivia” or “All things Canadian”.  On June 3rd, every family will receive an e-mail with the link to an MS TEAMS meeting, along with the PIN required to access the Kahoot!  from Kahoot.it. (which is the platform for the trivia contest).

It is best to have two devices to participate: one for seeing the questions through the TEAMs meeting and the other to access https://kahoot.it through your preferred browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox), to enter the PIN (provided via e-mail on the morning of June 3rd), and to select your answers.  If you are planning to use one device to play, you will need to split your screen between the TEAMs meeting and Kahoot.it.

Please use your family surname when prompted for a “Nickname” to use for the Kahoot! Trivia game.  The top three scores will win a PRIZE, so we will need this information to identify the winners!

ST. MARY VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR

Our virtual book fair ends today!  There are still a few hours left to purchase a book or two that your family can enjoy together this summer.  Click on the link and take a look at the fantastic books being offered:  https://virtualbookfairs.scholastic.ca/pages/5160214

Our school will earn 20% of net sales and we are so close to meeting our goal of over 100 books sold!

PA Day – June 4th

Friday, June 4th is a Professional Activity Day. Teachers will be engaged in professional activities that day, therefore there will be no school for students.

Attendance during Remote Instruction

In the event that your son/daughter is unable to attend remote instruction for any reason, please report their absence using School Messenger. Staff will take attendance twice daily as always – at the start of the day and after lunch. Please note that if your child is late signing on, you will receive a notification from the school. We appreciate your help with ensuring this information is reported accurately and efficiently. Each grade level will follow their regular scheduled recess and lunch time breaks.
