School Bus Courtesy Seat Application on Hold

Each year, in accordance with HSTS Procedure HS-1-004 – Courtesy Seats, families with children who are not otherwise eligible for school bus transportation to and from school are allowed to apply for courtesy seats on school buses.

Halton Student Transportation Services (HSTS) will not be able to accommodate courtesy seats as we move into the 2021-2022 school year. However, as information becomes available from public health, this decision may be reconsidered, and we will communicate any changes.

As a result, the courtesy seat application process is on HOLD for the 2021-2022 school year. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

For more information about student transportation services in Halton, visit the HSTS website at:

Summer Safety Checklist for Kids

Summer means lots of kids will be playing outdoors. As always, it’s important to keep kids safe while they’re having fun. Here are some key tips to keep in mind for kid’s safety over the summer months:

1. Practice sun safety by wearing sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.

2. Protect against bugs.

3. Prevent dehydration by ensuring frequent water breaks throughout the day.

4. Don’t forget helmets for the whole family. A helmet should be worn whenever riding anything with wheels, such as a scooter, bicycle, skateboard, or roller skates.

We continue to draw on our faith and offer prayers for the safety and well-being of those who are sick and those who are working on the frontlines to care for them.
