Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are writing to let you know that we received confirmation about a positive case of COVID-19 in our St. Mary school community.
Halton Public Health have completed their investigation, and based on the circumstances, they have determined that there is no risk of exposure to any students or staff in our school community.
Please note that a positive case in our community does not necessarily mean the individual was exposed to COVID-19 at school. They may have been exposed elsewhere.
Maintaining Privacy and Confidentiality
As always, maintaining confidentiality is critical. Please be especially careful when communicating about these matters that you are respecting the right to privacy of every student, parent and staff in our community. Even the best of intentions to want to reach out and show support to a family or staff member could be experienced as a breach of privacy.
COVID-19 Advisory Board
As a school, we have to track and record all confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our community, even for staff and students who have not been attending our school. We are sharing this information in the interest of transparency.
We wanted you to be aware, as this will appear on the Ministry tracking chart, as well as the HCDSB COVID-19 Advisory Board, and may be reported in the media.
Please Continue to Monitor for Symptoms of COVID-19 in Your Children
While we know that the news of COVID-19 in our community is always concerning for many parents, students and staff, it is an important reminder for all of us to be especially vigilant in checking for symptoms of COVID-19.
Please remember to complete the COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool each day before sending your son or daughter to school: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/.
Thank you for your understanding and support. As always, the health and safety of our students, staff and families is our highest priority, and we will continue to take direction from Halton Region Public Health as they monitor the situation and ensure all protocols are in place and followed.
Ms. K. Dobbie Ms. D. Comito
