Appropriate Dress for the Weather

The cold weather has arrived! The best way to stay warm is to dress in layers, but when layers are removed, they often get lost! Please make sure that all of your children’s clothing is clearly labeled so that if it is lost, it can be returned to them. All students must have a pair of indoor shoes at school. We are outside for all recesses unless the temperature drops below -20 degrees Celsius, so make sure your children have dressed appropriately with mittens, hats, scarves, boots, and snow pants if necessary! Keeping Immunizations Up-to-Date

JK/SK & Gr.2 Dental Screening- Nov. 18 & 21

Dental Screen will take place for our Kindergarten and Gr.2 Students this week on either Monday, November 18 or Thursday November 21.

Volunteers Needed- Nov. 18

We are in need of volunteers to help decorate our front foyer and office area for the advent season on Monday, November 18th starting at 9am.  If you have Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) on file at the office please feel free to come and help decorate!

Gr. 7 Vaccinations- Nov. 20

All Grade 7 students will be offered vaccines through school-based immunization clinics again this year. The Region of Halton Health Department administers this voluntary immunization program. The first scheduled date is Wednesday, November 20th and will be Hep B and HPV-9 for those participating.

Progress Reports – Nov. 20

Progress Reports are going home on Wednesday, November 20th. Your Kindergarten Interview or Gr.1-8 Student led Conference time is included in the report card envelope. Please take the time to go over these reports with your child(ren) and discuss some learning goals they can set for the term and school year. Please return the third page (signed) and the envelope to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

Student Led Conferences & Kindergarten Interviews – Nov 21 & 22

Our Kindergarten and Gr.1-8 Student Led Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21st beginning at 4 pm and Friday, Nov. 22nd beginning at 9:00 AM. We look forward to meeting to discuss your child’s progress!

Parents received an email with detailed instructions as to how to book their kindergarten interviews and student led conferences online at a time that is most convenient to your family. Please refer directly to this email for a link and password. You will be able to book your appointments from Nov. 4 at 8 a.m. until Nov. 20 at 11 p.m. If you do not have access to the internet at home or in the workplace, please call parentInterview toll-free at 1-866-810-0076, and someone will be happy to make your appointments with you.

Kindness Assembly- Nov. 21

This week we celebrate Bullying Prevention & Awareness Week. On Thursday, November 21 we will be hosting our Kindness Assemblies at 11:15 am- Noon for K- Gr. 3 Classes and 1- 1:45 pm for our Gr.4-8 classes.

PA Day – Nov. 22

Please note that due to our Kindergarten interviews & Student Led Conferences, Friday, November 22nd is a PA Day and therefore there is no school for students.

Lost & Found

All items in the Lost and Found will be available for viewing on our Kindergarten Interview and Gr.1-8 Student Led Conferences Night and the following day. Please take the time to go through our Lost and Found as we will donate any items not claimed.

St. Mary Poinsettia Fundraiser

St. Mary Catholic School Council will be holding our first Poinsettia Fundraiser to assist with our fundraising initiatives. Beautiful poinsettias are a fantastic way to kick off this holiday decorating season. They make wonderful gifts. Multiple sizes and colours are available to choose from.   Please complete this order form by no later than Monday, December 2nd.  Poinsettias must be picked up at St. Mary School on Wednesday, December 11th between 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. Preferred method of payment is through School Cash Online or by cheque.

New ISW Uniform Items

Two new uniform items are now available for order. We are pleased to add a Navy and Grey Sport Hoodie to our approved uniform for everyday wear.  For more information, please see the flyer  and order form .

Oakville Speaker Series- Nov. 21, 28 & Dec. 5

Loyola, Holy Trinity and St. Thomas Aquinas are partnering together to run the Oakville Speakers Series for the parents of the community. Families from all schools (secondary and elementary) are invited to attend one, two or all three sessions.

  • Thurs. Nov. 28 (7:00 – 8:30p) at St. Thomas Aquinas – Vaping & Cannabis Use
  • Thurs. Dec. 5 (7:00 – 8:30p) at Loyola – Transition to Post Secondary

Angel Tree

As we approach the beginning of the Season of Advent, our parish representatives have invited us to participate in their community outreach project, The St. Matthew Angel Tree. In partnership with St. Vincent de Paul at St. Matthew’s Parish, the students at St. Mary Catholic School will have the opportunity to choose an angel which will have on it a $25 gift card amount for either Wal-Mart or Real Canadian Superstore, Metro, Sobey’s/FreshCo. These gift cards will be given to families in need to purchase Christmas Gifts.  This project will serve as our only Christmas charitable outreach for the season. We kindly ask that all gift cards are sent into school by December 2. Please see the letter that will be sent home this week with more information.

Christmas Concert – Dec.17

Our Christmas Concert will take place on December 17th at 10 AM &1:15 PM. Please note that Mrs. Marlin & Mrs. Jones Kindergarten class and Mrs. Romaniw & Mrs. Soares Kindergarten class will only perform in the morning concert and Mrs. Stevens & Ms. Jaworska Kindergarten class and Ms. Marai & Ms. MacLellan Kindergarten class will only perform in the afternoon concert.  Our Gr.1-5 classes and our Gr.6-8 cast will perform in both the morning and afternoon performances. Please mark it on your calendars!
