Thank you for Completing your Child’s Daily School Screening!

Thank you to all parents / guardians for your continued efforts in completing your child’s Daily School Screening BEFORE students come to school / YMCA. Thank you for your continued cooperation in keeping everyone safe!

Any student or staff with signs/symptoms of COVID-19 MUST Stay at home / Self-isolate / Be referred for testing for COVID-19.

Thank you!!

Thank you to all our families who joined St. Mark Literacy / Numeracy Virtual Night! THANK YOU to our Catholic School Council for organizing this fantastic family event. We enjoyed Story Time with Tammy from Burlington Public Library and learning how to make the “Friendship Bracelet”, with Naomi.

Progress Reports

“We know that parents have an important role to play in supporting student learning. Studies show that students perform better in school if their parents or guardians are involved in their education. This is the basis for the principle that students and parents should be kept fully informed about the student’s progress.” ~ Growing Success, page 8.

Progress Reports for all students in Grades 1-8 and the Initial Communication of Learning for all Kindergarten students will be sent home electronically by the HCDSB Office on Wednesday, November 24th. Please look for future communication via Board Email with instructions on how to access them.

Please take the time to celebrate the learning that has happened so far. Please have a conversation with your child about what they have done well. Please help them think about HOW they are going to improve on areas of difficulty. Your interview with the teacher is a great time to discuss and make a plan on how your child can succeed academically, spiritually and socially.

Parent Teacher Interviews

We look forward to connecting with all of our amazing families on the evening of Thursday November 25 and during the day on Friday November 26. Your child’s teachers (classroom / PTM / FSL / Arts) will make contact with you to confirm your time and give you information on how they will make contact (Online / Phone Call). Gentle Reminder that Friday, November 26th is a PA day, so there is no school for our students.

Lunchbox Orders

This week’s Lunchbox Orders from “Boston Pizza” will be delivered to St. Mark on Wednesday, November 24 at lunch. Gentle reminder that food orders are due Sunday by noon through SchoolCashOnline.

Locker Access for Outdoor Wear and Boots ONLY

Gentle reminder, as students continue to use lockers for OUTERWEAR ONLY (coat, snowpants, hat, mitts, boots), personal items such as backpacks, texts, writing tools, lunches, etc. will continue to be kept in the classroom at all times. Please refrain from sending in non-essential items.

Dressing for the Weather

Gentle reminder to please send your children with warm clothing such as hats, mittens, boots, and snow pants, so that they are dressed appropriately to enjoy the outdoors. Students are able to be outside for all regular outside activities when it is warmer than -15 C. When temperatures range between -15C to -20C, students may remain outside for no longer than 20-minute intervals, once temperatures are colder than -20C students must remain inside.

Indoor Shoes

As the weather is changing we are asking that students bring indoor and outdoor shoes / boots to school. Running shoes are the best choice as an indoor shoe, so that our students could participate in their Physical Education Classes.

Masking Before and After School

Gentle reminder to our parents / guardians to wear a face mask during drop off and pickup times. As parents / guardians gather on school property, a 2-meter physical distance may not be possible. Please continue to do your part in avoiding the spread of COVID-19. Thank you!!

Dogs on School Property

Gentle reminder that dogs are not allowed on school property during school hours. Please refrain bringing your pet to school. We love our pets, however with a high number of students/ parents/ guardians on the property, we all need to feel safe.

Reminder about Lunch / Snacks / Cutlery / Reusable Water Bottle

Please ensure that your child/ren have their lunch / snacks / spoon / fork and water bottle packed in the morning prior to the start of the school day. Thank you in advance!! If your child has permission to go home for lunch, please discourage them to go to local establishments or to a friend’s home.
