Give thanks to the Lord, who is good; whose love endures forever.”
Psalm 118 : 29

Halloween @ St. Mark on Friday, October 29
Our Halloween Fun Day will take place on Friday, October 29th. St. Mark School will have a Black + Orange and /or Costume Day. When selecting Halloween costumes, we encourage everyone to reflect critically, be mindful of cultural appropriation and create an inclusive and welcoming school environment for all.
The following are suggested questions to reflect on when choosing a costume to avoid being disrespectful or offensive:
- Is my costume making fun of people or offensive towards a group of people, their culture or religion?
- Does my costume reinforce jokes / stereotypes about certain groups, cultures, or religions?
- Am I altering my skin colour, facial / body features to make it darker or a particular race, ethnicity, or cultural group?
- Am I dressing up as a culture or borrowing from a religion that is not my own or is not part of my background?
- Do I understand and respect the history or tradition of the culture that I am borrowing my costume from?
Please ensure that the costume is not too long to avoid tripping and always maintaining the St. Mark Student Code of respectable attire:
NO guts NO gore NO replica weapons
Due to COVID precautions, students and staff are required to wear their non-medical / medical masks, therefore NO face coverings are allowed.
All our classes will be participating in the annual Virtual Halloween Parade, which will start at 9:50 a.m. Each class will be able to walk through the school one class /at one time, while other classes view their parade in their classrooms via TEAMS link.
