We thank you all for your cooperation in following all of the directions around our first week with the staggered entry procedures. Thank you also for staying at the gates and not entering the school yard. This week it is even more important as we will have all of our students on site. Thank you in advance for your continued support!!!
The most important way to keep us all safe, (staff and students alike), is to never have the virus enter our building in the first place. To this end, parents/guardians and staff MUST perform a daily screening for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment.

What if my child has cold or flu-like symptoms?
Any student or staff with signs/symptoms of COVID-19 should:
- Stay at home
- Self-isolate. (NOTE: siblings and other household members must also self- isolate)
- Be referred for testing for COVID-19
- Remain excluded from school until test results are received
- If an individual tests positive for COVID-19, Halton Region Public Health will notify the individual and the school.
If a student or staff has COVID-19 like symptoms and COVID-19 testing is not done, there are two options:
- Follow up with primary health care provider to get documentation that illness is not due to COVID-19 and student/staff can return to school
- If no documentation is available from health care provider, then student or staff must self-isolate for 14 days from symptom onset date and have no fever (or elevated temperature)
In general – if there are symptoms of any kind- ensure follow up and assessment by a health care provider. School attendance must be limited until rationale is received by the school.
We recognize that this will result in far more absences for students and staff. Unfortunately, this will be our new normal until a vaccine is available.
What happens if your child feels unwell at school?
It is important for your child to let their teacher know if they are feeling unwell at school.
Students who show signs/symptoms of COVID-19 ( including any of the following: fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, lack of smell or taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion – in absence of underlying reason for these symptoms such as seasonal allergies – chills, headaches, fatigue or malaise) during the school day will be taken to our school’s ‘isolation room’ and we will contact the parent or guardian to come and pick them up. Parents will be asked to pick up siblings as well.
It is very important that we have current contact information for all of our families so that we can get in touch with you quickly. Please contact our school office if there have been any recent changes to your contact information. All parents must provide the school with an Emergency Contact who is available during the day in the event that parents are themselves unavailable.
Entry and Exit Routines
School supervision begins at 8:35 AM.
Please DO NOT drop your children off at school prior to 8:35 AM as there will be no one outside to supervise them.
Upon arrival between 8:35 AM and 8:50 AM, your children may proceed directly to their designated doors. (All students were taught their Entry/Exit doors during their first day at school).
Children will be supervised in their classrooms from 8:35 AM – 8:50 AM rather than having them congregate outside in the mornings.
Dismissal begins at 3:20 PM
On Monday, we will have many more students leaving at the same time. Our bus students will be exiting through our front doors to go directly to their buses. We must line them up prior to boarding the bus according to their new seating plan. We ask, therefore, that you please stay off of the sidewalk directly in front of the school during that time. As well, please remember that the driveway at the front of the school is only for buses.
Students who are being picked up by parents will meet their parents at the play ground gates, or at your established meeting spot. We request your patience, and ask you not to go beyond the gates.
Parking Lot Safety
As children are still getting used to dismissal routines, we entreat you to use caution and be vigilant in the parking lots for the safety of our children. All parents using the Kiss-and-Ride are reminded to use patience and not get out of your car. Please always wait your turn and pull up to the curb. Please do not pass another vehicle in the Kiss-and-Ride. Please follow the traffic flow even if your children have disembarked.
Students should never be running across the parking lot to enter vehicles. If you wish to walk your child you must park your car first! We cannot have parents parked in the Kiss-and-Ride lanes as this inhibits traffic flow, blocks parents who have parked as requested, and creates a hazard for children who are getting in and out of cars. There are usually enough parking spots to go around.
We thank you for your support and understanding. As always, the safety of our children is our number one priority.
If your child has a medical condition such as Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Seizure Disorders, Heart Condition, or Diabetes, you should have received a copy of their Care Plan. Please review, make any updates, sign, and return to the school. If your child has Anaphylaxis, you need to provide the school with an extra Epi-Pen or Allerject to be kept in the office. If your child has Asthma, please consider sending us an extra inhaler for your child to be kept in the office. We want to keep your child safe by having the correct information and medications on hand. If you need a new medical package, please contact the office.
Family Consent Forms
A September package will be going home shortly. These packages include important information, consent forms for your child to participate in our Physical Education program, Family Consent Forms, and Student Verification Forms. Please read, sign, and return these forms to the classroom teachers by Friday, September 18th.
Blessings for a new school year
Thank you so much to Fr. Isaac and Debbie Frey for coming to the school last Tuesday to bless our building, our staff, and our classrooms. Your love and prayers for us were much appreciated!
FIRST COMMUNION MASSES: The First Communion Masses that were postponed last Spring are tentatively being rescheduled for the last week of September. Logistics are being worked out at the Church to hold these Masses within the new Covid safety guidelines. We will keep you updated as soon as things firm up with the parish.
