Family Day Holiday Monday February 17

Enjoy the long weekend, school resumes Tuesday February 18.

Report Cards

Term 1 Report cards go home on: Wednesday February 19 for all students. We encourage you to use them as an opportunity to have conversations with your children about their learning and interests. We are very proud of the many accomplishments of all of our students. Please enjoy celebrating your child’s accomplishments this term and help them plan some new learning goals for Term 2.

Important Reminders with Inclement Weather

Please note that when transportation is cancelled, ALL transportation to and from school is cancelled for the ENTIRE day. It is at the discretion of the parent(s)/guardian(s) to send their child(ren) to school. If you choose to send your child(ren) to school, please ensure that you have arranged transportation to and from school. For more information, please review Board Procedure VI-47 Inclement Weather – Transportation Cancellations and Emergency School Closures. For more information about inclement weather safety, please review our Board’s Inclement Weather Safety Procedure.

Yard Supervision

As a reminder, supervision begins at 8:35 am. For the safety of your children, we request that your child NOT be on school property until a supervisor is on duty. Please see that your children leave home with ample time to ensure that they are on the schoolyard when the bell rings. If your child(ren) walk to school, please encourage them to use appropriate crosswalks and walkways. Establish routines at home that will assist your child to arrive on time. Please be aware that the volume of traffic in the parking lot increases significantly just prior to the entry bell. For safety, children arriving late for school must first report to the office. We encourage them to arrive on time and line with their class at 8:50 am when possible.

Sports Teams:

Our school gym has been a busy place!!! We currently have three competitive sports teams going on: Co-ed Hockey, Girls and Boys Basketball and Girls and Boys indoor Soccer. We are very appreciative of our teacher coaches who are so giving of their time for the kids to learn such great sportsmanship skills.

Fundraiser Update:

We held a fun-filled dance on Thursday. All classes had a turn in the gym dancing with their grade level. We have raised $7,525 as a school community during our only school fundraiser. We will announce the prize winners next week. Thank you those families who have donated. There are tax receipts available for donations $25 and over. We accept corporate donations. You can still submit your payment online.

Our goal is $10,000 for a much needed computer update for the students to use.

We encourage families at home to also spend some time learning about the valuable contributions Black Canadians have made to our country. Here is a starting point for you: 23 Historical Black Canadian You Should Know
