Parent Communication Week of January 10-14

We did it! First week of remote learning under our belts. We join you in praying that these measures will lead us to a much anticipated in-person reunion, as soon as safely possible. As always, we thank you for your tireless support.

Mental Health Supports: Our Child & Youth Counsellor, Mrs. Paul, has shared the following mental health resources from School Mental Health Ontario.  Below are grounding exercises that can help students when they are feeling overwhelmed and stressed. For additional resources and to learn more about what the HCDSB is doing to support its students, click HERE.

Request for Change of Learning Environment: If you wish to change your child’s learning environment by switching from in-class instruction to the virtual school, or vice versa, the online request form is open now. Please complete this form ONLY if you would like to make a change to the learning environment that your child was in prior to the Christmas break. If you wish for your child to remain in the same learning format they were in before the break, no further action is required. For more information and to complete the online request form click HERE. Requests will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 14th.

Kindergarten Registration Reminder: If you have a child turning 4 years of age by December 31, 2022, it’s time to register for Kindergarten! Please click HERE for more information on registering your child. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact our School Secretary Mrs. Rosati at for more information.

Remote Learning Student Attendance: If your child is going to be absent from, or late for remote learning, parents/guardians must continue to report absences/lates  to the school in one of three ways: the School Messenger Mobile app, the SchoolMessenger website or by calling toll-free: 1-844-445-4505. Teachers will be taking attendance every morning at 8:30 a.m. and again after lunch at 12:30 p.m. Remember, absences that are not reported using the School Messenger system will be followed up by phone call and email notifications until such time as the absence is reported. Please Note: It is fine if you would like to notify your child’s teacher, but you must still report the absence using School Messenger, teachers are not able to do this for you.

Families Experiencing Technical Difficulties: Please call the Help Desk at 905-632-6314 Extension 500 or email

Staff Contact List: Please note that a Staff Directory with contact emails is available on the school website under ‘contacts’.  If you need to contact school administration or a specific staff member, we ask that you please do so via email. Please avoid calling the school directly, as staff is working remotely.

Final Thoughts: RESILIENCE is the ability to meet and overcome adversity in ways that maintain or promote well-being. It incorporates attributes like grit, persistence, initiative, and determination.
