Today, June 11th, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We contemplate the incredible love of Jesus and reflect on the mercy, compassion and love that God has bestowed upon each of us. When Christ dwells in our heart and mind, when we know His love deeply, we are moved to live the commandments of love of God and neighbour. We are motivated by the Sacred Heart of Jesus to open our hearts to Him so that they are filled with love for all humanity. In this way, we learn to live Jesus’ commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you“.

Attention Grade 8 Parents: St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School (STA) is looking forward to welcoming your child in September! In support of their transition to secondary school, a mentorship program is offered for all Grade 9 students. Mentors are students in Grade 11 who assist in the smooth transition of Grade 9 students into the daily life of the school. Your child will be paired up with a mentor who will be a support and guide through their first year at STA. In order to best match mentees with mentors, we are asking that your child complete the following survey. This survey will help STA match your child with a mentor based on common interests. Please use the link below to complete and submit the survey. If you have more than one child attending Grade 9 in September, have each child complete a separate survey. Interested students must complete and submit their survey by Sunday, June 13. Survey Link

Multi-Year Strategic Plan Survey – Year 5: As you may recall, in September, 2016, the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) launched a new multi-year plan. Each year, the Director of Education reports back to the Board of Trustees on the specific steps undertaken across our school system that align with the goals established in our strategic plan. Focus on Our Students: Strategic Plan 2016-2021, provides direction that guides the decisions and actions that shape us as a school board – who we are, what we do, and why we do it. As the HCDSB completes the final year of this multi-year strategic plan, they are gathering feedback from the community to monitor the efforts this past year.
Members of our community are invited to submit feedback online: http://hcdsb.info/StratPlanSurvey2021 This survey will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Please note that all information collected will remain anonymous; no individual names will be shared. All of the feedback gathered through this survey will be shared with our Board of Trustees at a future meeting.
Kindergarten Registration Reminder: If you have a child turning 4 years of age by December 31, 2021, it’s time to register for Kindergarten! We are currently planning for the 21/22 school year year and knowing our enrolment numbers and needs is essential as we make preparations. Please click here for more information on registering your child, if you have not already done so. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact Mrs. Rosati at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Please note that registrations received after June 28th, will not be processed until the school office reopens on August 30th.
Are You Moving?: If you are moving out of the St. Luke attendance boundary and your child will not be returning to St. Luke in September, we ask that you please notify Mrs. Rosati via email at email@example.com as soon as possible. If you are moving out of St. Luke’s attendance boundary, but still wish to have your child attend St. Luke, please contact Mrs. Rosati who can provide you with information on completing the required Cross-Boundary Request Application.
Families Experiencing Technical Difficulties: Please call the Help Desk at 905-632-6314 Extension 500 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Staff Contact List: Please note that a Staff Directory with contact emails is available on the school website under ‘contacts’. If you need to contact school administration or a specific staff member, we ask that you please do so via email. Please avoid calling the school directly, as staff is working remotely.
Prayers: We pray for the Muslim Family from London Ontario who were victims of a terrorist attack. In times of crisis, it is especially critical that we stand together and support one another with care and compassion. We will continue to ensure our St. Luke school is a place where everyone feels a positive sense of belonging and everyone knows they are valued, respected, accepted and safe.
Final Thoughts: Truth and reconciliation can only occur when a collective community takes the time to become informed and learn about its history. Only then can society atone and actively work toward a better tomorrow. Until that time, platitudes are the only substitute; they are words alone.
