We will mark Thursday, June 3, 2021 as “Every Child Matters” Day at St. Luke School. Staff and students are invited to wear as much orange as possible.
The recent news release about the horrific finding at the site of the former Kamloops Residential School has brought all Canadians shoulder to shoulder to grieve, honour and take action.
The remains of 215 children were found in a hidden burial on the property.
These children had homes. These children were loved by families.
As our country continues the pathway to truth and reconciliation, our school has initiated a special initiative in memory: In response to the Kamloops residential school’s horrifying discovery, St. Luke is hoping that you will help to honour these 215 child victims by placing a pair of shoes and/or a stuffed animal on your porch as a visual symbol of the cruelty of residential schools. We also invite you to share a photograph via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
