School Update October 11-15, 2021

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.

William Arthur Ward

We wish all of our St. Joseph families a very blessed Thanksgiving. We are grateful for all your support and partnership throughout the year. Together we thank God for the many blessings He has provided to us and for those that He continues to shower upon us each day.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thank you to everyone for their incredible generosity throughout our Thanksgiving Food Drive. The abundance of donations to the Acton Food Share was tremendous and it will help many in need in our community.

Appropriate Outdoor Wear

With the fall weather upon us and our windy playground, please remember that it is that time of year when our weather changes drastically throughout the day. In addition to outdoor recess times, Physical Education classes and outdoor learning periods continue to primarily take place outdoors. Outdoor shoes and layering of clothing will help ensure students have proper wear to participate fully in all learning activities.

Cell Phone Use

A reminder that student cell phones are only to be used under staff supervision for academic use while at school. Please do not text or call your child on their phone during the school day. If you need to give them a message, please call the office and we will make sure they receive it. Thank you for your co-operation.

Halloween Dance-a-Thon

It’s that spooky time of year again! We are pleased to announce that on Thursday, October 28th, the students at St. Joseph Catholic School will be participating once again, in our annual Halloween Dance-a-Thon. This is a fun event, supported and organized by our Catholic School Council, that brings our school and community together to raise funds to support our student and school needs.

As our major fundraiser, our goal this year is to raise $10,000, which is approximately $30 per student. All funds raised will be used to support school-based initiatives benefitting all of our students. Cohorts will be maintained and all safety protocols currently in place will be followed. Pledge forms have been sent home with your child.

As a community member, we are inviting families and local businesses to support our school in this initiative through prize donations. Your gift will be greatly appreciated and a wonderful incentive for our students in their individual fundraising efforts.

Stay tuned for more information throughout October regarding prizes to be won, costume and Dance-a-Thon guidelines and other important details.

We appreciate your support in helping us reach our goal! Make a donation today.

Wheelchair Accessible Parking Spots

Thank you to our families for working together to ensure our parking lot runs efficiently, safely and is accessible to everyone at all times. Please ensure that our Wheelchair Accessible Parking Spots always remain clear and accessible to families in need – even during our pick-up/drop-off times. Please be aware that Bylaw Officers are continuing to monitor our parking lot, are striving to enforce Bylaw Regulations and will issue tickets for any infractions.

Daily Self-Screening

For the safety and well-being of all students and staff, parents and guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment.

The Government of Ontario daily self-screening tool can be accessed here:

Looking forward to working in partnership to ensure a safe and successful school year for all members of our St. Joseph School Community.

We continue to draw on our faith to guide us as we navigate these challenging times.
