“Approach the new year with resolve to find the opportunities hidden in each new day” ~M. Josephson
Catholic School Council
On Monday, January 13th we have our Catholic School Council at 6:30 pm in the library. All parents are invited to attend.
New Year is a great time to make resolutions, such as Punctuality. Punctuality affects a student’s academic performance, particularly if they consistently miss the same subject every morning. Please review the Student Code of Conduct, specifically the sections entitled “Regular Attendance” and “Punctuality” with your child. Arriving prior to our 8:50 am bell in order to avoid being late, will eliminate additional stress to the student and their families and students may struggle when missing important information during announcements.
Pilgrimage of the Cross/School Mass
Families are invited to attend our New Year School Mass on Thursday, January 16th at 10:00 am.
New Kindergarten Registration
Please note that parents registering Kindergarten students for September 2020 can register them early on January 21st and 22nd. For more information, visit https://www.hcdsb.org/Parents/Tax/Pages/How-to-Register.aspx
St. Joseph Tips
The New Year is a great time to set some goals, both short and long-term. Some ideas for resolutions for pre-schoolers are: I will clean up my toys or I will wash my hands. Ideas for school-aged kids could be to drink more water, try a new sport or a new activity, stay active at least three times a week or make a new friend. For teens, some suggestions could be to wipe negative “self-talk” or to find a new way to deal with stress. Discussing goals is a great way to connect with your child and working together to help achieve provides them with extra support. (www.verywell.com)
