Happy Summer Break!

I would like to express a heartfelt thank you to our staff, parents and students for all their support, kindness and efforts this year at St. John Paul II Catholic Elementary School. We wish you a relaxing and restful summer break. We hope you can spend time with your families as restrictions are lifted and rejuvenate. The SJPII CES staff look forward to seeing all our students in the new school year. Our office will open the week of August 30th. New families arriving are encouraged to register online over the summer. The first day of school for students in GRADES 1-8 is Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.

Congratulations Grade 8 Graduates

On Thursday, we celebrated our Grade 8 Graduates with a Curb Side Celebration at the school. Thank you to all the staff who joined us to celebrate our graduates on our special day. Many thanks to Mrs. Pirruccio and Ms. Babinger for all their hard work behind the scenes. We wish our graduates all the best as they move on to high school. Thank you to Mrs. Babic and the Strategic Communications Department at the HCDSB for all their creativity and support producing the SJPII 2021 Graduation Ceremony.

Pick-up of Medical & Personal Student Belongings

Curbside Pickup 01 - Burlington Signs

Parents are asked to pick up student medical items and personal belongings on Monday as per the schedule attached. We will have three pick-up points at the school, and staff will be on site should you wish to say good-bye.

Return of School Materials & Borrowed Technology

Don’t forget that all borrowed devices, library books and student text books are to be returned on Monday during our curbside pickup of school materials. Bins will be clearly labelled and setup at three points around the school for you to drop off during school hours. Don’t forget chargers for any borrowed devices.

Year-End Liturgy

Thank you to our Kindergarten classes & Pastoral Animators for putting together our final year-end liturgy which we celebrated last week on Tuesday.

Saint Matthew Parish – From the Pastor’s Desk…

It was a pleasure to celebrate Mass for our graduates on Monday, even if we couldn’t all be together in person. The end of the school year is always a hectic time, and I’m sure it’s more so this year. Thank you all for your patience and flexibility. It’s our solemn hope around the parish that things will look substantially more normal in our pastoral plan next year, but even if they don’t, we’re all getting much better at scrambling together new and exciting ways of accomplishing things.

To get a head start on Sacramental Preparation, we ask parents to correspond directly and exclusively with the parish regarding these celebrations, we’ve prepared our online registration pages for the 2021/2022 Academic Year ahead of time. They’re linked to the homepage of our website (www.saintmatthew.ca) and it is simple for parents to find and use. Again, this coming year, the parish will not be accepting any paper forms (every parent must complete the online registration).  Copied below, you’ll find the links to our easy-to-use registration pages. Parents with children currently in Grade 1 and Grade 6 are asked to view these forms. The more that register over the summer, the better situated we’ll be to communicate effectively in September. We’ll still certainly have a “registration drive” once school resumes in the Fall.

Thanks again for all your help this year, and may God continue to bless and keep you!
