Arrival and Dismissal

Thank you to all of our families who have been following the arrival and dismissal procedures that have been outlined. We ask for your continued support and diligence in following these routines. We kindly ask that parents waiting by the fence in the morning and after school stay off the sidewalks so that students can get to and from the playground safely. Finally we ask that family pets stay home during drop off and pick up.

Attention Grade 2, 3 and 7 & Parents-Sacraments

Grade 3 students who missed First Communion last year, Grade 2 students who will celebrate their First Communion this year, and Grade 7 students who will celebrate Confirmation.  Information packages were sent home with your child on Friday. Please take the time to read the information carefully.

Catholic School Council

The Role of Catholic School Council:  Ontario Regulation 612 states that every school must hold elections for the School Council within the first 30 days of each school year. The term of office is one year.  We want to encourage every parent to consider volunteering to sit on the School Council this year.  The school needs active and interested parents to maintain the quality of the school community we enjoy and to address the challenges the community will face in the future.  The nomination pakcage can downloaded from the link below. Please note that should we receive less than 8 nominations and candidates satisfy the requirements outlined in the regulations, they will be acclaimed.
Complete nomination forms can be emailed directly to Mrs. Choma at chomac@hcdsb.org no later than 4 pm on Friday, September 25.  
Our first meeting will be held on Monday, October 5th at 6:00 pm.   All parents are welcome to attend regular Council meetings.  Meeting dates will be posted on our school web page.  The meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held virtually via Teams online until further notice.

Lunch Time Supervisors

If you are interested in being a paid Lunchtime Supervisor at St. John Paul II (from 11:50 – 12:50), please contact the school and we will email you an application package. 

Crossing Guards

Crossing guards are very important community partners who work diligently to ensure the safety of our students who walk to and from school each day. If your child is a walker, please remind him/her to cross roads with the crossing guard and only when the crossing guard directs them to do so. We also appreciate you reminding your child to always treat the crossing guards with respect in both their words and actions. Thank you for your assistance!

Safe Arrival

The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority, and we are happy to announce we are using the new automated student attendance management system called SafeArrival.

The SafeArrival system is available 24/7, allowing you to report your child’s absence in one of three ways:

  1. using the SchoolMessenger® mobile app
  2. by logging into the SchoolMessenger®  web site
  3. by calling into an interactive toll-free phone line


SafeArrival
enhances our existing student attendance procedure, making it more convenient for parents to report a child’s absence, and more efficient for our school office staff to follow up sooner on unexplained absences.

Agendas and Forms

Thank you to parents who have paid for agendas. Please note that agendas are $8 and are available for purchase on School Cash Online. Student verification forms went home with your child(ren) this week. If you have not return your child’s verification forms, please do so ASAP. Thank you!
