Thank you to our entire school community for a very smooth first week! Students were able to settle in to their new classes and adjust to a ‘new’ normal at school. They were extremely diligent in washing and sanitizing their hands and everyone did a great job wearing their masks.
We look forward to seeing our SK-Grade 8 students back to school on Monday.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
When students arrive on Monday, September 14, they will go to their designated zone and await the morning bell. Once the bell rings they will line up at their assigned locations. Teachers will be outside to escort their students into the building. We ask that you please do not drop your child(ren) prior to 8:30 am when supervision begins.
In the event of inclement weather, students will be brought directly into the building into their classrooms where they will be supervised.
Kindergarten students will always have direct entry, regardless of weather conditions.
In order to maintain physical distancing we will stagger our dismissal times as follows:
Kindergarten 3 pm
Grade 7-8 3:05 pm
Grade 4-6 3:10 pm
Grade 1-3 3:15 pm
Older siblings may wait on the blacktop at a designated area to meet their younger siblings. Parents wishing to pick up their children in one area are encouraged to pick up at the door that the younger child is dismissed.
Parents are reminded to stay behind the fence when dropping off and picking up their child(ren).
For your convenience a photo of the zones and entry doors is available to download below.
We thank you for your co-operation!
School bus transportation begins on Monday, September 14th.
For information to verify your child(ren)’s stop detail, please visit the HSTS website at: https://www.haltonbus.ca/ Based on guidelines received from the Ministry of Education and in light of physical distancing measures there will be a seating plan in effect for all students. When your child boards the bus on Monday, the driver will direct them to their assigned seat. Please note that school staff will review the seating plan with all bus students on Monday. Courtesy seats will not be feasible this school year.
Catholic School Council
|The Role of Catholic School Council: Ontario Regulation 612 states that every school must hold elections for the School Council within the first 30 days of each school year. The term of office is one year. We want to encourage every parent to consider volunteering to sit on the School Council this year. The school needs active and interested parents to maintain the quality of the school community we enjoy and to address the challenges the community will face in the future. The nomination pakcage can downloaded from the link below. Please note that should we receive less than 8 nominations and candidates satisfy the requirements outlined in the regulations, they will be acclaimed. |
Complete nomination forms can be emailed directly to Mrs. Choma at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 4 pm on Friday, September 25.
Our first meeting will be held on Monday, October 5th at 6:00 pm. All parents are welcome to attend regular Council meetings. Meeting dates will be posted on our school web page. The meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held virtually via Teams online until further notice.
The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority, and we are happy to announce we are using the new automated student attendance management system called SafeArrival.
The SafeArrival system is available 24/7, allowing you to report your child’s absence in one of three ways:
- using the SchoolMessenger® mobile app
- by logging into the SchoolMessenger® web site
- by calling into an interactive toll-free phone line
SafeArrival enhances our existing student attendance procedure, making it more convenient for parents to report a child’s absence, and more efficient for our school office staff to follow up sooner on unexplained absences.
Lunch Hour Changes
Please note the slight change in our lunch hour this year.
11:50-12:20 Grade 1-4 students outside, Grade 5-8 inside
12:20-12:50 Grade 5-8 students outside, Grade 1-4 inside
Students are invited to bring in an independent activity to do after they finish eating (ie. a personal novel, colouring book, deck of cards).
Agendas and Forms
Thank you to parents who have paid for agendas. Please note that agendas are $8 and are available for purchase on School Cash Online. Student verification forms went home with your child(ren) this week. Please return all forms to your child(ren)’s teacher by September 18th, 2020. Thank you!
