As we complete week ten of Distance Learning we would like to thank you for supporting your child and our teaching staff here at SJPII. This has been a time of learning for all of us and we are grateful for your patience and perseverance during these unique circumstances. We will celebrate our Grade 8 Graduates this coming week on Twitter followed by their virtual graduation ceremony and curb side diploma pick on Monday, June 22, 2020. Pick Up of Student Belongings

The HCDSB has completed the Elementary School Curbside Access for Student Belongings Protocol for Parents/Guardians – found below. Details for family pick up times and information will be emailed separately in school messenger. Please note that K-8 classroom teachers will gathering ALL student belongings from the classroom and the lockers and bagging them for parent curbside pickup.

Pick up dates will be during school hours on

  • Thursday, June 18 (Grade 7 & 8 only)
  • Wednesday, June 24 (Kindergarten to Grade 6)

Please note that the schedule for K-Grade 6 Families will be sent out via school meesenger on Wednesday of this week.

Grade 7 and 8 Pick Up Thursday, June 18

As communicated last week, we will be facilitating curbside pickup of your child’s belongings on Thursday June 18th. Please see below for your scheduled pick-up time according to your child’s last name. As we are mindful that many cars will be using the entrances and exits at the school and we want to avoid excess street traffic, we ask that you please adhere to the scheduled 20 minute window of time.

When you enter your specified driveway entrance, there will be a first stop for returning items to the school. You will see individual bins marked for the return of the following items:

  • Library Books
  • Text Books
  • Athletic Uniforms/Jerseys
  • Technology Devices (loaned to students for Distance Learning)

If you are returning items, please place them in separate plastic bags with your child’s name. You will then proceed to the second stop, which is for pick-up of your child’s belongings. If your child has medication at school, such as inhalers, Epipens, or non-prescription medication, these will be with your child’s belongings. You are asked to open the trunk of your vehicle and the staff member will place the bag of belongings inside and close the trunk. Once you have picked up your child’s belongings, we ask you to directly leave school property without stopping or parking in the parking lot.

All students who have medication at school such as inhalers, Epi-Pens and non prescription medication will be included in your child’s bag.

Courtesy Seats on School Buses for the 2020-2021 School Year

Families with children who take the bus to school are advised that the application process for receiving courtesy seats on school buses will be delayed for the 2020-21 school year. Due to physical distancing measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it may not be possible to grant courtesy seats or the process may be delayed for next school year.

However, parents and guardians can continue to submit a Courtesy Seat Application, and will be notified via email once a decision on this process has been made.

Please note that there is no guarantee that a courtesy seat will be offered if you submit an application, or if your child had a courtesy seat in the past. Visit the Halton Student Transportation Services website for more information:

Mrs. Scannell

It is with mixed emotions that we share with you that Mrs. Scannel will be joining the St. Anthony of Padua School Community in Milton in September as Vice Principal.

SJPII has been truly blessed to have her as part of the school community for the past three years. Her always positive approach, passion for teaching and learning and her enduring love for ALL children will never be forgotten.  Mrs. Scannell you will be sorely missed! 

I would like to also take this opportunity to welcome Mrs. Tracey Babic to SJPII in September.  Tracey is currently the Vice Principal at St. Benedict in Milton.  Please join me in welcoming her to our awesome school community.

OCGE Focus for the Month of June
