Weekly Update May 31st to June 4th

Dear St. Joan of Arc,
Thank you for accompanying me throughout the day, and in the work that I did.  Thank you also for your guidance and your counsel.  Please help me to listen to God and to you, dear Saint, that I may do what I am called to do.  Please intercede on my behalf and beg God to take all my faults and turn them into virtues.  I thank you for all you have done for me, and all the things you have interceded for, on my behalf.  Please continue to pray for me and for all the souls who need it.

HCDSB Rainbow Day ~ Tuesday, June 1st

We will kick off our Pride Month celebrations with Rainbow Day on Tuesday, June 1st.

Students and staff are encouraged to dress in their most colourful clothes as we celebrate the rainbow – a sign of God’s promise to love us and a symbol of inclusion for all in our community!

Friday, June 4th – PA DAY

No synchronous or asynchronous lessons will be posted.  Classes will resume on Monday, June 7th.

Free Family Paint Nights

Our HCDSB Indigenous Education Advisor has organized three free on-line paint nights with Indigenous Artist Moses Lunham.  This is a wonderful way of engaging staff, parents, students and family members to come together in community, to be creative and learn more about Indigenous Art.  All information for the paint nights, pictures and supplies will be posted on the HCDSB webpage.

Each session will have a different theme based on the natural cycle of the environment.  All sessions will be on the HCDSB YouTube Channel from 6 pm – 8 pm.

  • Wednesday June 9th, 2021 – Strawberry being the First Fruit of the Season

Moses Lunham will provide step-by-step instructions, provide encouragement and has agreed to leave the live video up for a period of one week between each session.

Uniform Update from McCarthy’s

Dear Families,

As we continue to navigate covid-19 together, I am pleased to share an update on enhanced options for buying your school uniform in 2021.

Our school uniform provider, McCarthy uniforms, has three enhanced options for shopping:  updated school e-stores, private appointments and a web-supported call-center.

I encourage families to shop early and utilize these alternative channels to avoid late-august line ups. long wait times will be the reality this year, given that McCarthy’s must adhere to strict social distancing measures and simply can’t accept normal in-store volumes. In some cases, only five customers will be permitted in stores at any one time.

McCarthy’s has informed us that to support families during this time they have implemented an installment payment program (online only), introduced volume discount buying options and invested in a variety of web support tools to make online shopping easy & fast!  All school uniform products can be exchanged for up to a year and returned until September.

Kindergarten is an exciting milestone for your child and for your family! Our school offers a full-day, 2-year Kindergarten program, designed to engage curious early learners through different kinds of play, that help children learn how to reason and problem-solve as
they interact with one another.  When Can My Child Begin Kindergarten?
To register your child to begin Junior Kindergarten (Year 1) in September 2021, your child must be four years old by December 31st, 2021. Children enrolled in Senior Kindergarten (Year 2) must be five years old by December 31st, 2021.  For more information on how to register your child:  Register Your Child

Student Attendance

Attendance will be taken twice daily: once in the morning and again after lunch. If your child is not able to attend or participate in remote learning on any given day, please report his or her absence, as you typically would during in-person learning through the SchoolMessenger Safe Arrival System:

We will be following our usual process of contacting parents and guardians when student absences are not reported. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Now, more than ever, ongoing communication between home and school is key to your child’s success and well-being.

Stay Healthy and Safe!
