Lenten Food Drive:
As the Lenten season approaches and in keeping with the spirit of Almsgiving, St. Joan of Arc will be holding a food/gift card drive. Every Friday during the Lenten season, we will be collecting both non-perishable food items as well as gift cards that will be given to families within our school community and the local foodbank. If you wish to donate gift cards, of any denomination from the following stores: Freshco, Food Basics, Walmart, Superstore, Fortinos, Sobeys or No-Frills. We will be collecting food items and gift cards beginning Friday, February 28, 2020, up to and including Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Thank you in advance for your generous contributions during the Easter Season.
Lenten Message from St. Matthew Parish:
Parking Lot Safety:
This is a very important reminder to please continue to use caution and be aware as you are driving into/out of our parking lots at the school. Please be aware that many students are walking on the sidewalks before and after school. Likewise, we respectfully ask parents to keep their children close by while walking to/from school on the sidewalks and remind them to stop at driveways to check for vehicles about to turn in or out. Parents are also reminded to reduce speed and proceed with extreme caution while traveling through both parking lots.
Reminder – Safe Arrival Program:
It is essential that all absences are reported to the office in a timely manner. In some cases, numerous unsuccessful attempts are made when calling cell, work, home and emergency contact phone numbers. As per board procedures, Halton Regional Police must be called after many attempts have been made, to ensure student safety. Please continue to follow our established procedures around student safe arrival. All students arriving late to school must report to the main office before making their way to class.
Term 2 Pizza:
Just a reminder that Term 2 Pizza will begin on Monday, March 2nd, 2020.
Little Jammers will begin on Wednesdays from March 4th to April 22nd, 2020 (No class March 18) at lunchtime for all those who have registered.
OECTA Job Action:
Our school will be CLOSED to students on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 as a result of the recent announcement by OECTA of a province-wide, one-day full withdrawal of services.
Please note that there may be picket lines present at our school location, which may impact traffic flow and cause potential minor delays in our school parking lot.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. For more information, please visit the Halton Catholic District School Board’s website: Labour Negotiations Update

We will be recognizing this day on Friday, March 13th with a full civvies day. We encourage students to wear brightly coloured mismatched socks in support of people with Down Syndrome and their families. As a Catholic community, we will be demonstrating our role as responsible citizens by raising funds for the Halton Down Syndrome Association. On March 13th, each class will be given a sock to collect loose change to support this endeavour. Students are encouraged to bring in whatever amount in change they can.
