Weekly Update Dec. 9th — Dec. 13th

Second Week of Advent: We light the 2nd purple candle for Peace.  The angels proclaimed “Peace on Earth” when the Baby Jesus was born

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy… Divine Master; Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Candy Cane-Grams

Our ambassadors will be spreading Christmas cheer by selling candy cane-grams according to the schedule below. Each candy cane-gram costs 50 cents.

Monday, December 9 – Grades 1 & 2

Tuesday, December 10 – Grades 3 & 4

Wednesday, December 11 – Grades 5 & 6

Thursday, December 12 – Grades 7 & 8

Friday, December 13 – All Grades

Kindergarten students can purchase candy cane-grams from their teachers on any of the above dates.

Candy cane-grams will be distributed by our student ambassadors on Wednesday, December 18th.

Angel Wish Tree

Thank you SJOA for your generosity yet again!  The 17th Annual Angel Wish Tree was once again a great success.  The overwhelming amount of gift cards, PJ’s, toiletries, snowsuits, socks, pot and pans and so much more is a true indication of how the SJOA community comes together to help support those in need.  You can see all the donations on twitter @sjoa5.

Christmas Sing-Along

St. Joan of Arc staff and students are proud to present our 2019 school-wide Christmas Sing-Along. Please join us on Monday, December 16th from 9:30 – 11:30am in the gym to gather in celebration for the Coming of Christ.  Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 will be singing a variety of popular Christmas carols and our Grade 7 students will be performing the play “A Super Christmas”. Our Grade 8 students have also prepared some short video presentations.

Christmas Break

Christmas break begins on Monday, December 23rd to Friday, January 3rd.  Classes resume on Monday, January 6th, 2020.   Please note that Friday, December 20th is early dismissal at 1:45 pm.  All busses and afterschool programs have been notified, and schedules have been adjusted to accommodate the change in time.

Yours in Faith and Learning,

Mr. N. Laratta and Mrs. M. Pitt
