Preparing the Way for the Lord

Advent prepares us for celebrating Christ’s coming in history; it calls us to consider his presence with us now in mystery, and his coming at the end of time in majesty. But what does this mean for us in our daily lives? When we think of the word “Advent”, perhaps it’s wreaths, candles, little sacrifices or special prayers that come to mind. It might also mean Christmas cards, shopping for gifts, and festive gatherings.

It’s helpful to remember that Advent is really about getting ready to receive God, who comes to us as a newborn baby, in the vulnerability of our human flesh. He is the long-awaited One whose presence brings the tranquility and order of peace.

Twilight Mass

As we celebrate Advent, it is important to remind ourselves of the true meaning of Christmas. It is so easy to get buried in the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping, cleaning, and preparations, that we forget to prepare our hearts for the true JOY that is Christmas. Advent is the season of anticipation for the coming of Christ into our hearts to renew us. But sometimes we need a little help to fully embrace the spirit of Advent. We are inviting our families, including GRANDPARENTS, to a very special Twilight Advent Mass on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 pm at Mary Mother of God Church!

First Reconciliation

This week we pray for our Grade Two students who will be receiving the beautiful Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time at Mary Mother of God Parish on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm. May you always know the peace of Jesus, the light of His love, and the joy of His life within you.

 Joy Day

Joy Day will be taking place on Wednesday, December 11th. Students will be engaged in Christmas activities throughout the day. Intermediate students will be visiting classes to share in the joy of the day. This will be a non-uniform pajama day and families are asked to make a donation to the charities that our school supports. Kindly make your donation on school cash.
