Fuel for Kids:

On Thursday, October 17th, 2019, St. Gregory the Great school will partner up with our local FORTINOS store and host the “Fuel for Kids” fundraiser. This is a tremendous opportunity for our students, staff, and parents to raise money for our school. Our school will receive a visit from the FORTINOS Race Team and the actual driver; Dave Connelly. Dave and his team will arrive at our school to deliver our students a very unique “Show and Tell”. The “Show and Tell” will be an informative and educational talk about the various safety elements both in what Dave wears as a driver and what is designed into his actual racecar. Dave will speak to the students for approximately 20 minutes. At the end, Dave often has the school assembled outside for his final “donut” goodbye! That same evening the team will visit our FORTINOS store and put on a BBQ fundraiser for. School volunteers will help out with the event. 100% of the proceeds from the event go back to the school. Additional at store activities and food will help raise money. There will be face painting, tattoos, a balloon artist, a bake sale, and more. Please help support our school!

Come join us on Thursday, October 17th. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Make it a family fun night and enjoy dinner in the company of our St. Gregory the Great Community. We look forward to seeing you there.

Elementary School Cross Country Meet POSTPONED:

Our upcoming Elementary School Cross Country Meet has been postponed until the Spring of 2020.

The Elementary School Cross Country Meet is an annual event, organized by the Halton Catholic Athletic Association (HCAA) in consultation with our Curriculum Services staff. Each year, a number of students in Grades 4-8 from each of our HCDSB elementary schools participate in regional meets for Burlington, North Halton (Milton and Halton Hills) and Oakville.

Unfortunately, in light of the job action that is currently in place in our schools, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide adequate supervision for all of the students who were set to participate in next week’s Cross Country meets.

After careful consideration, and in the interest of ensuring we can provide supervision to allow for maximum participation of students with all abilities, we have decided to postpone this year’s Cross Country regional meets, originally scheduled to take place on October 8, 9, and 10, 2019.

The 2019-2020 Elementary School Cross Country Meets will now take place on April 21, 22, and 23, 2020. More specific information will follow later in the school year.

We know this will be disappointing for the students who have been preparing to participate over the past several weeks, however we look forward to hosting our 2019-2020 Elementary School Cross Country Meet in the Spring.

The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority, and we will continue to focus our efforts on creating and sustaining safe, inclusive school communities.
