“Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.”

Happy Father’s Day to all of our St. Gregory fathers!
St. John’s Bible
The St. John’s Bible will visit our school on Tuesday, June 18th and Wednesday, June 19, 2019. The St. John’s Bible is the inspiration of Donald Jackson, renowned calligrapher and official scribe to Queen Elizabeth II. Donald Jackson dreamed of creating a handwritten, illuminated bible in the tradition of the Lindisfarne Gospels and the Book of Kells. After approaching St. John’s University, Jackson was commissioned to produce the St. John’s Bible in 1998. Under the direction of Donald Jackson and a Committee on Illumination and Text from St. John’s University, an international team of artists, calligraphers, and biblical and theological scholars, worked for thirteen years to complete the St. John’s Bible. It is the first complete bible to be handwritten and illuminated since the advent of the printing press over 500 years ago. Medical Conditions – Parent/Guardian Packages
Given that the school year is drawing to a close, please assist us by addressing the following items:
1. If we currently hold medication for your child, please note that it must be picked up by dismissal (2:10 p.m.) on Friday, June 28, 2019. We do not store medications over the summer.
Medication or any other medical apparatus (i.e. AeroChamber ®, EpiPen ®), which is not picked up will be sent home with your child at dismissal.
For safety reasons, please immediately inspect your child’s backpack for medications upon arrival at home.
2. We are sending home health care forms for the 2019-2020 school year. Please complete the forms. The completed forms MUST be completed and returned to the school during the week of August 26, 2019. Please DO NOT return the new forms package prior to the end of the current school year (June 28, 2019).
With these completed forms, please provide:
- Updated medication for the 2019-2020 school year in a Ziploc® bag that is clearly labeled with your child’s name.
2. For PRESCRIBED medications, complete MEDS.1-P form (Request and Consent for the Administration of Prescribed Medication) PRIOR to your child’s first day in September 2019.
Please understand that at the beginning of the school year, parents assume complete responsibility for the administration of the medications their children require until such time as all of the requirements of #2 above are satisfied in full.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation regarding the safe provision of medication and the information pertaining to your child. Their safety, and the safety of all other students, is our priority.
Active Living Day
The students in grades 1-7 will be participating in an Active Living Play Day on Thursday from 9:30-11:55. They will be participating in different cooperative games outside. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather. Have them bring in sunscreen, hat and a labelled water bottle. If the weather is inclement we will just cancel the event and follow regular routines.
Dressing for the Weather
With the warm weather we have been experiencing, it is important that students are dressed appropriately for recess. Please send your child to school with a hat and a water bottle to ensure that they are comfortable throughout the day. We would encourage you to make applying sunscreen part of your morning routine rather than send it to school. If you are sending sunscreen to school, please make sure that it is not a spray application as the sprays can make floors slippery if misapplied
Lost and Found
All of our Lost and Found items will be put on display in the front hallway. Any items that remain unclaimed by Friday, June 21st will be donated to charity. Please stop by and pick up any missing items that belong to your children.
The last day of school will be Friday, June 28, 2019. We will be having early dismissal on that date. We will be dismissing at 2:10 pm. Please make sure you have made arrangements so that your child will not be left at school after 2:10 pm.
