Photo Retake Day on October 25:
Tomorrow is photo retake day for those students who were absent on Picture Day or would like their individual photo retaken. Class photos will not be redone.
Our gym is scheduled to be completed by October 31st and we would like to open the doors for the first time with a Hallowe’en Dance. Students will be able to come to school dressed in their Hallowe’en costumes or they can wear orange and black. We will showcase everyone’s costume with a Hallowe’en parade before each class has the opportunity to go to the gym to dance the day away! Please note that costumes should be appropriate and safe; for example, no masks, no (pretend) weapons, no gore, nothing too revealing, etc. Students are also welcome to wear orange and black in lieu of a costume.
Parking Lot Safety:
We are asking for your assistance in ensuring the safety of our students in the parking lot and surrounding roadways.
- Please continue to use the west parking lot for student drop off and pick up
- Please do not park in the Kiss and Ride/Drop off Zones
- Please do not drop students off on Sixteen Mile Drive. Please park and walk children to the front doors and entranceway of the school if your student is late or being picked up for an appointment.
The “We Scare Hungry” Food Drive:
St. Gregory the Great will be having its 1st food drive to support our local food banks – in support of WE Scare Hungry through Free the Children. One meal could mean the difference between having the energy to be a successful student or to struggle with homework and tests. It also means the difference between being healthy and being sick. Let’s make a difference this Halloween and bring in canned goods and non-perishable food items to support our local families who are struggling with hunger. WE can make a difference! “No One Should Have To Go Hungry!” We will be collecting food items beginning October 17th until October 28th!
It is our goal to have our St. Gregory families signed up for our School Cashonline service by Christmas. All students at St. Gregory the Great have now been assigned Ontario Education Numbers which will facilitate the sign up process. Please see below for instructions on how to sign up but if you are experiencing technical difficulties please call the School Cashonline 24/7 technical support line at 1.866.961.1803. If that doesn’t resolve any technical issues, please call Mrs. Palucci in the Main Office for additional troubleshooting support.

New Online Service for Police Information Checks:
Residents of Halton aged 21and older can apply for Police Information Checks and Police Vulnerable Sector Checks ONLINE without having to attend one of the police locations. This will allow parents easier access to applying for a Police Record Check that is necessary for volunteering within the schools. For more information visit Halton Regional Police.
Holy Trinity AP Parent Information Evening:
On Thursday, October 27, 2016, an information session for the Advanced Placement (AP) Programme will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School (2420 Sixth Line) in Oakville which will be new for September 2017. The AP Programme offers enhanced learning and university-level courses to students in secondary school. Students enrolled in the AP Programme study topics in greater depth, preparing them to develop the knowledge and the critical thinking skills expected in university. Parents and students who are interested in learning more about the programme and the application process are encouraged to attend.
