United Way

The grade four students are in charge of the United way campaign. This includes advertising and promoting paint the town red day through posters, word of mouth and announcements over the P.A. In Oct. and Nov.

Girls’ Basketball

From January to March the girls’ basketball team will be competing in the regular season in division one. Depending on their success they have the opportunity to make the municipal playoffs and play in the system play offs.

Track and field

Students from grade 5-8 have the opportunity to try out for the track and field team in the spring. The students will compete against the Burlington Municipality and depending on their success, the Halton Catholic Region.

Cross Country Team

The cross country team trains for a meet that takes place usually in the beginning of October. The students participating in the race range from grades 4-8.  All special needs students that participate in the race, run with a peer mentor.

Hockey Team

Our school hockey team is open to all hockey players, male and female, in grades 7 & 8. The team will play in 3 tournaments this year starting in the winter in hopes of winning The Wave winter classic.

Jr. Boys Basketball Team

Our junior program is a one day tournament. Try outs start in the spring for all grade 6 boys.

Gabriel Idol

Our famous “Gabriel Idol” is a tradition at St. Gabriel school and began in 2001. It is a singing contest and try outs begin in May. Those students who advance to the competition will compete for the title in June.  The finalists then get the chance to sing to our neighbors at the Carpenter Hospice in the Fall.

Battle of the Books

There are two Battle of the Books teams (Junior + Senior) that compete in an annual event. These teams of six students compete for points by identifying the titles, authors, and characters of books from questions based on the plots and settings of familiar stories.  Battle of the Books is an edge-of-your-seat trivia game that is all about books!

The We Team

The We Team brings Catholic Social Teaching to life by making an impact in local and global social justice initiatives. This group is open to intermediate students.

Grade One Art Club

The St. Gabriel Grade One Art Club is an opportunity to have our students create some super awesome artwork. Activities are organized and taught by some of our very own St. Gabriel junior students! It is a Club that promotes the Arts and Leadership.
